Right now I'm starting Fitzpatrick and have Tom Brady on my bench just to piss off my boss because she's a huge Pats fan :)

LOL! I have no use for fantasy football either.

my cream ale won first place in my club-only competition tonight and will move on to nationals.
Pretty stoked about that but I'm pretty sure most of the people in my club have never had an actual cream ale before.

Interesting. Do you mind sharing the grain bill? (i'll understand if it's 'proprietary' info :) )

heh...it's mostly the recipe from Brewing Classic Styles, but from memory here goes

4.75 lbs Pils
4.75 lbs 2-row
1 lb flaked rice
.5 lb sucrose in the boil

1 oz Liberty @ 60 minutes
.5 oz liberty @ 1 minute

Single infusion mash around 150 degrees

WLP001 @ 68 degrees

So what's giving it the 'cream' feel? The flaked rice?

yeah, but it's not very pronounced.
And traditionally, since it's a hybrid style, it should be fermented with a lager yeast at ale temps.
I believe either white labs or wyeast has a cream ale strain for sale.

Obama said he wanted clean energy, but besides that I think the main point was Romney calling burning coal "clean".

how can they have "clean coal?"

the areas around coal fired plants give off more radiation then nuclear plants. thats a fact.

coal slurry is just evil shit.

Ask Mitt. It was confusing.

no, obama has been in favor of coal production. trust me, the diehard confederate wannabes in coal country would NOT be voting for him otherwise.

do you know what you're talking about? what is called "clean coal" is different than normal coal use. "clean" coal is cleaner, in that there is much less air pollution. not from external cleaning methods, but because of the lower temperature burn methods called "gasification". the difference is that typical fires burn apart their fuel. when gasification is employed (high efficiency woodstoves do this too) the molecules break apart due to the heat (not the flame) and the flame actually is suspended a few inches above the fuel source. this creates a very efficient burn, where the only thing remaining at the end is a fine ash.

unfortunately, solid waste is still a problem. "clean" coal is a thing, and it is much better than typical burning coal, but it is still worse (how much is very debatable) than many of our other energy methods.

when he calls it "clean coal", he's not wrong. he didn't invent that term. it's got some connotation, sure, but it is a legitimate difference.

Obama talked about "clean coal" technology in the debates in 2008 himself. That's when I knew he wasn't gonna be making much change in energy policy. It's all just a way to straddle the fence and throw a bone to the environmentalists while basically hanging on to the current energy infrastructure. Same thing in the car industry. You can set mileage requirements, but not much will change if you still use the internal-combustion engine as your paradigm.

You want clean energy policy, vote Jill Stein.
