Latest round of applications and resumes submitted have been shot down. This is unbelievable, to say the least. Tons of computer/office related experience, but am told I don't have enough. Applied to a local customizing company (jerseys/t-shirts etc) and yet again, told I've done great work but not enough experience (Even though I've been customizing stuff for people from all areas of North America for the last 5 years or so)

Not if, but when I finally leave this fucking self-righteous death trap of a town, I’m burning every bridge linking me to it.

Maybe even the town itself.

Thanks, man.

Not looking for a pity party or anything and I know others are struggling and are in crappier situations, it's just getting real frustrating as of late. Especially with a strong possibility of the Mrs' company going on strike in the very near future. She's one of the few who don't want to strike, but you know, unions. Although I understand their reasons for not accepting the province's latest contract proposal, it just sucks because of the timing. Any wonder so many medics are leaving the province for Alberta. Some are making in the upwards of $600/day out west. We're working on heading out there as well, but the registration process for her is painfully slow. The job market is a lot deeper out there for me as well, so hopefully Karma will toss us a bone.

Rest assured, no matter where you are, if you pray to Joe Pesci he will be there to guide and help you.

But seriously, good luck.

Why do so many people in the matter of gun control actually think a hypothetical government purging is a good argument?

because that's why we have that amendment

Um, no it's not.

The 2nd Amendment exists because the 13 colonies did not have a standing army, and citizen militias were required for national defense. Those citizen militias were required to be armed, hence the protection of that right.

The 2nd Amendment was not inserted to promote the violent overthrow of government if you disagree with them. That's why they added voting.

yes, your interpretation is definitely probably more right

i don't know why it's a stretch to believe that this is a failsafe in the event of a tyrannical government. they were trying to get away from one and avoid becoming one. i am sure there was more than 1 clause used to prevent history from repeating itself.

I just don't accept that logic. The colonists didn't put together a violent group of armed rebels to overthrow the British. They used legislative means to declare independence, and only when attacked did they respond in defense. In fact, the new US government did everything they could to avoid armed conflict with the British.

Armed, violent insurrection to overthrow government was never something supported by the founders.

I don't understand why SO MUCH WEIGHT is given to what these few founders thought 200+ years ago. I mean, they also thought it was fine to own slaves, so...

To counter this argument, not necessarily this exact quote but this argument. Why should they be allowed to limit what people use for recreation? At the end of the day the responsibility lies on the gun owner, and the person who sold them said weapon. I'm all for background checks, and limitation of ownership of certain types of fire arms (ie Hand Guns, Cannons, Explosive devices, ect) however, I see no reason for them to limit the use of long range rifles. I have several long range rifles that I had to make compliant with the new laws, including two semi-automatic rifles (not assault rifles, there is a difference), I was angry but complied, however, I do not feel that these limitations have made us any safer, as gun violence continues, and will continue. The problem is that we aren't enforcing the laws the right ways. There should be a few day waiting period on any firearm sold, there should be a training course on how to use firearms for any first time buyer, and there should be a registration process for all weapons bought and sold. The issue is with the commerce of fire arms, not the existence of them. This falls under the elastic clause of the Constitution, not the 2nd Amendment. I'm all for stricter laws, and more licensing, but I will never be out there for an outright ban on any firearm. Maybe it's just the redneck in me, but I shoot for recreation, not shoot to kill.

And shooting for fun is exactly that, fun. I've shot AR's, Rifles, Pistols, and shotguns and even a slide fire AR and I had lots of fun doing so. I want to continue to be able to shoot these guns and buy them in the future, for recreation and for home defense.
