This will probably be a shock to nobody with NY State roots. A study came out which shows that isolated state capitals are more corrupt than state capitals in densely populated areas.

This doesn't entirely shock me, with capitals in sparsely populated areas, officials are able to do more "closed door" deals than they would be if they had the large stream media of an NYC, or major metropolitan area covering such stories. My brother works in DC, as a security officer for the capital building, he was telling me a vast majority of his job is telling media they can't enter certain areas.

Great read though, and I can see several of the correlations that would cause isolated captials be to far more corrupt than those in major metro areas.
