Right. Which is why it's so f-ing infuriating when bible passages are held up against a reasoned argument, as if the word of the bible is infallible. Then things like I posted are pointed out and all of a sudden 'oh, the bible isnt a rulebook, it's all up for interpretation'. It's freaking hypocritical. (not talking about you sky, just generally in debates i've had with christians.)

That is true.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but shouldn't it be "Tim Thomas MAY suck a fat one" ? I mean, we dont actually know if he is capable. (although he does seem to have a big mouth...)

...meanwhile a LGBT volunteer and activist walks into the offices of the Family Research Council (a socially conservative lobbying group) with 15 Chick-fil-a sandwiches in his backpack and a gun in his hand and opens fire, wounding a guard.

And it gets almost no national news coverage.

Why on earth did he have 15 cfa sandwiches in his backpack? Sounds like a lunatic, and an unprepared lunatic at that.

He sounds like a deranged person with a serious political bone to pick with both organizations.

Quote:
Federal authorities say Floyd Lee Corkins II told a guard at the Family Research Council, "I don't like your politics" before shooting him in the arm. The guard and others helped subdue Corkins, who was taken into custody.

He's been charged with assault with intent to kill and with bringing a firearm across state lines.

Authorities found a box of ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches in his backpack.

Newsbusters, but w/e

Quote:
ABC was the only broadcast network that offered a full story on the FRC office shooting on Wednesday night. They led with the story and gave it two and a half minutes
On NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams gave the story just 17 seconds
On CBS Evening News, substitute anchor Bob Schieffer offered 20 seconds

None of them felt inclined to mention the dude was a LGBT activist.

I seem to remember something being mentioned on the news about the political motivations of the Sikh temple shooter.

I think if Floyd Corkins had killed six people it would have gotten a lot more play. The severity of the outcome likely played a part in how it was treated by several organizations. Not an excuse, but an explanation, one I'm sure you'd already realized.

The news frequently withholds critical information in order to better tell a story, it's disappointing.

I think they weren't concerned at all with telling a story.
Severity of outcome notwithstanding, "armed psycho from X political group opens fire in offices of opposition political group" seems to be a story that sells itself....the kind newsrooms usually love.

I mean you kind of did that yourself in this thread by characterizing the LGBT issue with Chick-fil-A as one with Cathy's comments, not with where Chick-fil-A's money went.

They were climbing over themselves to report the Sikh Temple shooter was a skinhead / white power asshole.
Yet here (when reporting was done), they intentionally withheld information regarding motive.

Yeah, I'm not surprised, but I will point it out when they make their biases so obvious.

My angle is everyone should already realize what chick-fill-a stands for and where some of their profits go.
It's not a secret so why the outrage when someone says out loud what we should already assume?

Newsbusters? Really?

For shit's sake, that evil bastion of liberal bias, NPR, talked about the LGBT angle of the shooter TWICE this week, and I don't listen to them all day. That guy is full of shit.

uh...you think he's lying about the time each network dedicated to the story?
I agree Newsbusters is full of shit, but even they wouldn't lie about something so easily verified.

I mean, we can pull up the broadcasts on youtube or something...
