1000 years of darkness is just a good night's sleep for Chuck.

Chuck is a moron with the charisma of Keanu Reeves. This is not newsworthy.

What's with Obama haters and their wanting of a theocracy?

We'd be better off with Mike in office over the two choices. Both are bad choices, but who will do worse?

I say we all vote for Mickey Mouse.

I really shouldn't say Obama haters.
I should probably say hardcore creationists.

I imagine Hitler would be pissed. I mean, he was our example of bad leadership taken to extremes but a thousand years of darkness? Wow. Obama has him licked. Makes the aftermath of good old Adolf sound like a cute bedtime story.

Oh, how cute. Did Chuck make the mistake of thinking all that attention was something other than ironic? That is sad, and funny.

Not really anything new. The extreme religious right has always existed. They're just louder these days.

I'm wondering what will happen to the GOP if Mitt loses. Will they learn a lesson? Will they see that letting the far right nut jobs run the show hasn't worked in their favor? Will they come back towards the middle or will they continue towards crazy?

I'm also interested in seeing if the game plan of the GOP if Obama wins will remain the same. Will they spend another four years preaching doom and gloom while stonewalling all democratic ideas or will they try to do what is in the best interest of the people whose voices will have decided this election? What will the Dems do if Mitt wins? Will they play ball or take a page out of the republican play book and throw a political tantrum and hold American policy hostage?

I have a hard time believing the religious right could pass a constitutional amendment these days.

The religious right is part of the reason I'm a Libertarian...I've got no time for their false morals or social policies, but making them out to be some major political force is silly. It's a fake boogie man. Or maybe I should say "dog whistle".

Just be happy that Chuck Norris shows the compassion and grace to allow you to 1) vote at all and 2) allow your vote to actually count.

Really though, this was just a typical religious based 'get the vote out' video. I didn't see anything bat-shit crazy about it, unless quoting Reagan qualifies as "crazy" these days. Why is it so hard to just ignore that stuff? That's what I do with countless other leftist celebs with as much credibility as Norris.

I flat out disagree Cross. The religious right is a major force in politics. They hold very real and very powerful sway over American politics. When you mix the money of powerful special interest groups with the numbers and fanaticism of the religious right you have a very powerful tool. Mike Lofgren said quite a bit about it in his book. http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/307610-1

Quote:
“If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack,” Norris says. “We’re at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don’t change the course in which our country is headed.”

Quote:
"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into 1,000 years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”

Yup, just your everyday "get the vote out" video.

Look, we had an actual born-again fundie President for 8 years and the most radical thing he proposed (fundie wise) was maybe, perhaps giving federal funding to faith based charities who run homeless shelters and the like.

Unless you live in Alabama or Mississippi or an equivalently backwards state you are under no threat of having your life changed or rights taken away.

The previous comment about Obama Haters wanting a theocracy is even more laughable...these are the same people that just nominated a Mormon for President right?

Right.

EDIT: I don't agree with Norris, but it is just ra-ra get out the vote and throw red meat tot he masses stuff.
Paul Ryan was compared directly to Joseph Goebbels last week by the chair of the California DNC so whining about campaign rhetoric is pretty silly.
Put your big boy pants on and buckle your seat belt until November.

I'm not going to bother posting all the ridiculous leftist hyperbole from average 'get the vote out' ads. I'd be here all night and tomorrow morning, and it's not worth a dead end argument. I'll just say this, if that's your equivalent of bat shit crazy, you haven't seen much of the deep end stuff from either side.
