Vanek is back on the ice...that's encouraging
"I battled their guy, I don't know if I stepped on his stick or something but I did the splits," Vanek said. "And I don't do the splits. It didn't feel too good."

Vanek back, Connolly still out. Do we have to send down Gerbe or (not)Ennis now?

Heard yesterday on the radio:

Vanek looked to have back at least by the weekend.
Connolly will not be traveling with the team this weekend.
Kaleta's time frame is in question (but really, it's Kaleta. He'll be back the moment it's physically possible)

Gerbe has to be the first to go IMO.

This sucks as Timmy is one of our best playmakers and has a ton of playoff experience. That being said, Ennis seems to be a damn good playmaker himself, has great chemistry with Pommers and is, with the exception of Vanek, the opportunistic player on the roster currently. I know its the best of circumstances, but I'm not too worried as there doesn't seem to be much, if any, drop in production between these two.

According to Ruff, Connolly hurt it down south on that roadtrip. He played 2-3 games after that trip though, so I don't think it's that bad.

Ennis, as good as he is, cannot fill Connolly's shoes just yet.

We really need Timmy if we're going to make a deep run...

I totally agree with this, and guess I should clarify what I was thinking. If we are missing Connolly for the first round, maybe part/all of the second, Ennis should be a serviceable fill-in for the short term while he heals.

He played against New Jersey on Sunday, and he'll play tonight.
