Well I certainly think Vanek played a good game against the Red Wings. He even tried to hit a player or two. Maybe that is part of what he was promising in the offseason.

The less games any of our players miss, the better off we are...

Obviously.

I am fully expecting Vanek to sit out the Isles game, but return for the Thrashers. If he doesn't, he'll return for the game next Wednesday, is it?

He sucks in a game, and i'll call him out.

He turns on beast mode, and I have to account for that.

Like I said before the season started, I would like nothing more than him tearing it up. I love this team.

There is no doubt he was a major threat against the Red Wings.

Wow, Markus said something positive about Vanek.

Surprised he isn't complaining about him only playing for 7 minutes, or falling down after his goal.

He is a high paid player on our team that is currently in a prime age. He is now responsible for the wins and losses for this team, whether he likes that or not.

He didn't dissapoint on Tuesday. Sure he didn't hit everything that moved, but he did, enough, and turned on beast mode.

I agree, he played amazing for the time he got to play before his injury.

I'm glad he got rewarded for his hard work, his first goal was amazing to watch. Stopping at the dot, dangling the puck and attempting to pass the puck for Roy but deflecting it off of Lidstrom's skate instead.

His second goal was from him going straight to the net to get that rebound and slap it pass Osgood into the open net.

What if your friend is Mike Grier?

Mike Grier has no friends. Only those he tolerates.

Mike Grier cannot love, he can only not kill.

Didn't he injure himself by trying to check Brad May?? I've always criticized Vanek for not checking enough but if he's gonna get injured doing it then I don't want him checking..

Appears he's ready to go for Saturday, and possibly Friday...I love professional sports these days. What they'll do before the game, if the injury has healed to the point where it wont get any worse is, shoot him up, numb him, tape it, and let him go.

With his attitude and drive this year, I'm willing to bet he plays against the Isles tomorrow.

He needs to play.
Show the rest of the league he's tough.
He's on a 60 goal pace!

This is what I did expect from this team this year, go back and check the old boards if you dont believe me.

These guys are all hitting that 25-28 year old range, where they are hitting their primes (much like Drury and Briere were in 05-07) and should be putting up these numbers until about age 31 where they drop off a bit. Our defense is getting younger as well, but is exploding with talent. Chris Butler is the most under-rated player on this roster, and Myers is showing flashes of brilliance at a very young age.

This is going to be a very, very, very good team down the stretch. We may even win 50 games this year. I dont think beating Detroit 6-2 is a fluke. I think Detroit is still a solid team, but we out skated them for 60 minutes of hockey, and we got wins. The drive and work ethic is there, and the leaders on this team are stepping up. It's going to be a fun season.
