As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.

Right now it seems I’ve really hit a streak of bad luck what with all the injuries. First the jaw fracture against Ottawa, now this… I guess I’ll just have to battle through this, better times will surely come.

The injury happened before my second goal of the night. I collided with Brad May trying to put a check on him. After the shift I already knew something was wrong. But I wanted to keep on playing. After the goal it didn’t work out any more. We’ll have some examinations on the injury and just go from there.

Hurt himself due to a hit attempt.

Hmm, maybe it is a rib injury. Sounds like rib or shoulder are the likely culprits.

Vanek slid hard into the end boards after scoring the goal on Derek Roy's third assist in a 4½-minute span, but Ruff said the injury actually occurred before that play. Television shots of Vanek on the bench before the shift showed Vanek grimacing while moving his neck/shoulder area.

Vanek's shoulder was not in a sling when he left the locker room about 40 minutes after the game was over, and he was believed to have undergone X-rays on his ribs.

"It was before the goal, when I collided with [former Sabre Brad] May," Vanek told The Buffalo News. "I went to hit him, and it happened there. I just finished the shift and felt it after. I knew right away and just tried to tough it out. After the shift, I just got it checked out."

"It's tough but we've got extra players," Ruff said. "Every team is going to have to deal with injuries. You look at what Detroit is dealing with, with [Johan] Franzen out of the lineup [with a knee injury]. Every team is going to miss key players along the way."

Better now than at the end of the season, I suppose...

But ribs really hurt! (I guess all injuries kinda hurt, huh.)

But, I could barely move my arms, or even breathe, after simply stretching cartilage while diving for a grounder. (Then again, I'm a bit of a wimp. )

Vanek Injury Not As Bad As First Feared

(WGR550) Thomas Vanek was not on the ice at today's Sabre practice after suffering an upper-body injury in the teams' 6-2 win over Detroit Tuesday night. After the game, Head Coach Lindy Ruff said that Vanek could miss weeks. After today's practice, Ruff said that the injury isn't as bad as first feared and wouldn't rule Vanek out of the next week of hockey. Ruff said the forward is feeling better today after undergoing several tests since the injury first occurred.
