I don't understand trading Monty when any possible salary he makes will be made up for in the lack of Rivet on next years budget. Even if he somehow makes 4 million that would only be like 2.5 million more then he's making now, and minus about 3.5 in Rivet we still end up with 1 million to spare.

If we move Connolly, that's another what, 4.5 million? leaving 5.5 + another 4ish in unused space from our self imposed cap which may or may not be done away with soon. If we assume Myers takes 6-8 million for x years then we have about 1-3 to work with this offseason in order to prepare for Myers' signing.
I may have argued myself into believing we should trade Monty...

But! What would we get for him? 2nd round pick? Is that enough? I could be missing lots of things here, but I'm still not sure a 2nd round pick would be possible or enough to justify poking even more holes in our team.
