..Anyone else feeling this is a lot like Groundhog Day?

Either way, I'm ready to see what this Larsson kid can do.

I keep saying, he was damaged good when we bought him. Too bad NHL players don't come with warranties

I'm not arguing that this Leino thing hasn't worked out very well so far, and I want to see Larsson, too.
But it sounds like you guys haven't had a rib injury before. I managed to get one (through my own idiocy) last Christmas and it really, really sucked. You really can't do anything, and you get shooting pains every time you move wrong. I couldn't even sleep in a bed for a few days. Believe me, the thought of playing any hockey after one of these (let alone effective hockey) is going to have to wait for a good bit. Also, Leino probably won't be able to stay in condition in the early stages of recovery, so getting back to playing form won't happen overnight. I wouldn't wish a rib injury on anyone (except Kessel).

Man, Leino has 4 years left in his contract. Injury after injury and he isn't even worth the cap hit if he's healthy.

How common are contract renegotiations?

Do they have them in this CBA now?

Just buy him and Stafford out and give those spots to rookies who want to play hard.

Not saying Leino doesn't want to play hard, he's too injury prone right now.

Uncommon, as in they don't happen. The CBA doesn't allow them like the NFL's does.

I don't know much in regards to the NHLPA, so pardon my ignorance on the subject. I just want a way to get that number down and it doesnt exist. I don't want to buy him out until after the season is over and he continues on this trail

Unforunately, he can't be bought out until the off-season. You can stash him in the AHL, but you're still on the hook for the cap hit on any money owed to him in excess of $975,000.

I'm not worried about Cap hit. I just hope Larsson comes in tonight and does really well and makes Leino expendable on the spot.

You stash him in the AHL when he gets back from injury, then buy him out. Or you do that to Stafford when Leino comes back.

Even simpler, you buy them both out at the end of this year.

Right now I'd ditch Staff & keep Leino all year, injuries & all. :(

there must be a market for staff, though he may not fetch much value.

Things you would rather have, that falls into the shit category, then Stafford on this team. I personally would be willing to have food poisoning for 4-5 days straight of it meant we all had the pleasure of not having him in our lineup
