If you think Canada “struggled mightily” today, then you need to watch the Latvia game again (or for the first time). Don’t take my word for it. Check your beloved Corsi numbers. The reasons it was only 2-1 was because Latvia’s goalie was insanely good, and they are a very cohesive, highly motivated, tough, well-coached team. I watched all 5 of their games, and they showed up for every one of them in a big way. Zemgus was a key player for them, and he played very well all tourney.

I’m not making any predictions, but Canada is making very few mistakes, and they continue to work hard and keep things simple. They are the last team the US wants to face right now (and probably vice versa, lol).

Isn’t the way the semis turned out a beautiful thing? Sweden and Finland have an intense rivalry, as do the US and Canada. Oh yeah, and Russia is out. That part is beautiful, too!

He said "in this tourney", which is correct. Canada has had trouble scoring all tournament. It's a concerning factor heading into a game against the tournament's highest scoring team.

Canada's forwards have struggled to score.

The American team is rolling and scoring on all four lines.

Regardless it's gonna be an amazing game. USA hasn't faced a Defense like Canada, and Canada hasn't yet faced an offense as deep as USA.

Yeah, the refs really were bad at the end there.

The only game where I thought Canada would fill the net, but didn't, is Norway. Every single team that they have faced has had nothing but defence on their mind. No opponent challenged them offensively, but they all had tremendous goaltending and stingy defence. Almost like the Rangers when they collapse to the net.

I think this game will be very interesting because both teams will be attacking, thereby oppening up the play. It will surely give Canada better chances to score, but Price will be tested big time. Should be a good one.

Quick looked solid in the first period. US gave up some good chances...I still can't believe that Kunitz is playing on Canada's national team.

EDIT: ...and I shouldn't have posted.

I feel the same way about Kunitz, but he played very well today.

Yeah, I have to admit he played a good game. Overall it was a great game, both goalies played well.

EDIT: I think if I could choose 2 D-men for my team, I'd choose Keith and Weber.

Bylsma shouldn't have started Quick today. On the other hand if you can't score a goal in 2 games it's tough to win something.

Nothing against Canada but I'm rooting for Sweden tomorrow.

Habs are lucky to have Price in net. What a gun.

Solid performance by the struggling Canadian team though. 3 goals against all tourney.

Now back to watching a basement team...

Hated the fact that Backstrom didn't get to play. What a silly rule.

Yea, that's really dumb.

Rules are rules. The trainers knew what the "legal" limit was he could take, and determined that his normal dosage wouldn't trigger anything abnormal, and decided not to tell the IOC about him being prescribed on the drug. This is all on the Swedish medical team, because according to them, they absolutely knew about Backstrom taking the drug.

But a guy did almost the exact same thing in another Olympics and nothing came of it, certainly no gold medal suspensions...

Yeah, Visnovsky did. I believe his A and B tests didn't match, so they let him off with a warning or something.
