Looks like Versus, or more likely NBC Sports Cable, will be taking on ESPN sometime in the near future. This development could be a huge boost in exposure for the NHL, and change the world of TV sports as we know it. Much like FOX News swooped in 12 years ago and systematically obliterated CNN's stranglehold as the cable television news leader, ESPN had better seriously be prepared for its first real sports programming competition in decades.
