Did you know that the Memorial Auditorium is gonna be the first barn inducted into the HHOF since the original six barns? SO COOL!
i was in the old checkerdome in st louis YEARS ago. i vaguely remember it, but that place was BITCHIN!
Olympia was special, as was MLG and old boston gardens.
its a damn shame the forum is now a movie theatre. apparently, the old hook still hangs above what was centre ice. the old hook held the old scoreboard.
anyone else think the white wire basket in those olympia pictures was kinda creepy? the basket that once held the centre ice speakers above the ice?
Creepy as hell man!
I was to a game in the old Gardens back in '98, and then again just this past October for the first show of Battle of the Blades. Man, talk about letting a monument fall to shit. Yes, it was home of the Leafs, but these old barns have been home to many great events. From political conventions, hockey games, boxing and concerts. They have a lot of memories. And the Aud was just as special, if not more.
The Boston Garden must have been one of the best of the old beasts in terms of “Weird things” to happen during events. If you didn’t have an obstructed view seat
They even had seats in the corridors for god sakes! Lol If you could see even a part of the ice from a location, seemed like they put a seat there for revenue.
I was in the Forum last march, I agree Irony, it's a shame to see these old places demolished, have their souls taken from them. I'm glad, however, that they are refurbishing the Gardens in Toronto for hockey and other sporting uses. Sure, there will be one level for a shopping/groceries (Loblaws owns it, it was kind of inevitable) but the structure and main purpose will be for hockey.
