Also, dude, you are ALWAYS so down on your national team. What gives?

I usually am up on my national team but lately for some reason I not, plus I could care less about this tournament

Well, for the Olympics, you were convinced they wouldn't even medal.

At the start I thought they would, then the piss poor play in the one game against a weak USA team I thought for sure they would have been 4/5th for sure

That weak USA team showed more heart and never-say-die than any team in the tournament.

I did not, but I did hear about the German coach (I think) getting into a fist-fight with a Suisse player. Or was it the other way around? I dunno.

Germany is gonna get slaughtered against Russia.

Yes it was the Swiss I fail, I just saw red jersey and assumed Canada. Uwe Krupp was being a douchebag in that fight, there is no way you fight an opposing player.

Krupp did not fight. There was a little bench clearing brawl when the game was over (nothing wild, just a few fists flying around). A Swiss player knocked out a German player (with a nasty right hook) and one of the German assistant coaches was trying to fight the guy, other players jumped right in to end it. Krupp was standing behind his coaching staff and it looked like he was trying to get his players out of there.

You can see it at the end of this video

Thanks for the video, STP.

Well, the Czechs beat Tre Kronor 3-2 today to advance to the gold medal game. Germany and Russia is up next. Wouldn't it mind-boggling if Germany advanced?

Russia could beat Germany only with their fourth line. I hope Russia wins, Czech vs. Russia would be a nice final to watch. Jagr vs. Ovechkin again.

OMG yea. The Olympic rematch. Vokoun isn't one to be trifled with this tournament, either - he's shut the door when it matters most.

Vokoun played good, but if Russia can play up to their potential they will win. I watched Canada vs. Russia and Russia played very solid, with enormous speed and deserved to win. Vokoun needs to have a miracle day to handle Russia's fire power. I don't know what Germany would need, although Endras (German goalie) is probably the best goalie of the tournament so far.

Btw, Myers didn't look as good as in a Sabres jersey (and I'm not talking about handsomeness :) ). Maybe Tallinder did have some impact on his play or it's just a long season and he got tired.

This is kind of amazing...Germany and Russia are tied at 1 through two periods.

If, somehow, the Germans can beat Russia and advance to the gold medal game, you'd think Uwe Krupp would get a handful of calls about a coaching job in the NHL.

1 year ago Krupp was about to get fired. Germany dodged relegation just because they are the host of the WC (Austria had to play in the B-WC despite beating Germany).
I don't think he is a great coach, they are just on a good run.
Sidenote: He thought about quiting prior to the WC because his wife is sick, she convinced him to continue. Great choice.

EDIT: His reputation might be good enough for a NHL job though.

I did just hear about the Krupp's ordeal with his wife's breast? cancer. Sad story, but what an inspiration she must be.

Gogulla with an awful turnover that led to the game winner for Datsyuk. It's at the 3:20 mark in the video

Wow, epic fail by Team Russia. They're the only country that sent their Olympic team over to the Worlds, and there is really no excuse for them not powering their way through the competition, let alone losing the Gold.

You were right. I just read that Krupp might quit his job and is looking for an assistant job in the NHL (Colorado) or a head coach job in the AHL. His long term goal is a coaching in the NHL.

Good for him to maybe land with his Avs.
