The tourney starts in two days tomorrow, and rosters are starting to come together.

Team USA
Team Canada
Team Russia
Team Suomi
Team Slovakia
Team Belarus
Team Denmark
Tre Kronor
Team Latvia
Team Italy

Also of note are Andrej Sekera's selection for Slovakia, Philip Gogulla and Felix Schutz being named to Germany's team (also no full roster yet), and the lack of Toni Lydman on Team Suomi. Hank Tallinder declined his invitation to the WC. No word on Enroth yet, but he's probably not going since he's still recovering from his sprain.

Edit: 5/6 Update: Most of the rosters are set, but I haven't found one for Team Switzerland or Team Germany

The Russian team is stacked, just based on the announced confirmations to the roster, but I wanna wait until the full roster is out to really analyze how badly they're gonna choke.

They won't choke cause there is no pressure on them at all.

The opening game of the 2010 IIHF World Championships tomorrow will be a record-setter, as Team USA faces Team Germany inside a 74,000-seat soccer stadium.

Germany defeats USA, 2-1 in OT, to open the prelims and the tourney as a whole. Over 77,000 in attendance to see Felix Schutz score the game winner. Among other jerseys, Sabres sweaters could be spotted in shots that panned the crowd.

SLAM.ca "Myers thrilled to play for Canada"

Great read, with an awesome quote from John Tavares - "I think most Canadians, including myself, are happy Tyler chose to play for us."

I don't think he even received an invitation.

Denmark beats USA, 2-1. Suisse beat Italy, 3-0.

Are the States really that bad??

I dunno, honestly :-\

The only returning player from that excellent Olympic team is Jack Johnson, so who the hell knows what's going on. This is like America's B/C Squad going up against the rest of the world's best, in some cases. (Finland's team is another team that's icing their B Squad and the Czech's, their C Squad at best)
