Nathan Gerbe has come back with a purpose after missing two weeks with a concussion. The winger has registered seven points (1+6) in five games since his return, including a goal and pair of assists in Friday’s 3-1 win against the Sharks.

Despite missing five games, Gerbe is third on the Pirates in scoring with four goals and 13 helpers through 16 contests.

Ennis playing as well as he is may be exactly the motivation Gerbe needs to be an NHL player.

I can't stand seeing robotic players like Hecht on the ice knowing we've got Ennis and Gerbe ready to light the lamp AND take peoples' heads off in the process if they were given the chance.

Meanwhile, Enroth has been riding the pine as JP Lamoureux has become the feature goalie. What a terrible collapse for Enroth this year, who looked to be in line as the primary backup for Miller should Lalime get injured or falter. Now, he can't even beat out Lamoureux.

yeah. i dont think it would hurt the sabres to target a goalie in the draft, just in case. but good to see gerbe playing hard and well.

Jhonas is really bumming me out. I was so psyched on him last year. We really have to hope this is a sophmore slump, or else we better draft a decent goalie soon, because we know how long they can take to develop into someone trustworthy enough to sit in between the pipes night in and night out.

the number one goalie in this year's draft is american jack campbell thus far.
http://www.usahockey.com/USANTDP/defaul ... edNews=yes
http://umgoblog.com/?tag=/jack-campbell
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdis ... ncode=TRUE

so far he is predicted to go late first round. they say chicago.
the other top goalie is Louis Domingue
http://www.moncton-wildcats.com/en-ca/t ... YER_ID=294
predicted to go right after chicago.

i say too early to tell on where they will fall. but those are a couple of the top two.

I saw a Pirates game on TV last night, and Gerbe was all over the place. I'm excited to see him back up with the Sabres.

I'm hoping Ennis and Gerbe make it in the top ten in AHL scoring.

I always thought Lamoureux would be a good player. Sooner or later I think he will be the backup to Miller.

dont take this as a know-it-all comment, but lamoureux will only be an AHL fringe player at best. the only way he will ever see NHL ice is a plethoria of injuries.

Crazier things have happened.

The funny thing about goaltenders is they can blossom at any time.
