Kassian's focus does not waver

"Shirley Kassian distinctly recalls the conversation she had with her son.

"At seven, he told me he was going to be at the (NHL) draft, he was going to put on that jersey and thank all of his coaches," she said.

"I got to be there to see him do it and it was pretty cool."

Last June in Montreal, Kassian, 18, right-winger and team captain of the Ontario Hockey League's Peterborough Petes, was selected 13th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the NHL entry draft."

Just a bit of fluff...but, some insight into his mind-set.

Too bad he didn't make it to the WJC...his gnarly style of play would be disruptive to all the floaty, pond hockey-type stuff from Europe. It'd be a great showcase for his bruising game.

Perhaps being snubbed will further motivate an already motivated youngster :D

Word. He is motivated.

The way his family supports him, and the circumstances of his upbringing have definitely contributed to his determination and character.

He's a good kid, from a humble background. He understands sacrifice, all too well.

kassian and foligno patrolling the wings and defending players what team isn't going to piss their pants when they touch the ice against us. especially with guys like ennis and gerbe who will hopefully turn out to be a threat to score every time they touch the puck.

Speaking of Foligno, I'm actually disappointed in his output this season. I was hoping he'd be a marginal scoring threat, but he's just been a grinder. Still can't wait to see him do the Foligno Leap in the blue and gold, though :D

if marcus is anything like his brother the scoring will hopefully come. he is taller than his brother and has a grit streak. i'm sure it will come, especially once he starts the leap.

Marcus is far from a lock to play here anytime soon.

He is nothing like Nick as a player; his father said that after the draft. Nick is skill, while Marcus is a physical player. He has the physical attributes to play IF he can develop his skill set.

Kassian has the skill set to be a successfull NHL player, in addition to great toughness. This is the reason Zach was picked 13'th overall, and Marcus was selected in the 4'th round.

Nothing would please me more than to see Marcus develop, and play here in Buffalo.

WOAH WAIT WHAT?!

EDIT: I see this is very good for Kassian's numbers, and his chance to play for a title.

He will be playing for a title but I see him losing in the OHL if they play Barrie, Barrie is friggin loaded.
