The soft as Anderson's custard Sabres may be getting their asses creamed as of late, but it was a great weekend for the Portland Pirates.

On Friday, the Pirates won 3-0 behind yet another brilliant performance from Jhonas Enroth, earning his 4th shutout of the season in turning away 38 shots. Tyler Ennis continued his strong play, adding a goal in the win.

Since Nov. 28th, Enroth is 16-6-1, 1.60 GA, .945 SV% and 4 SHO

On Saturday, the Pirates won again getting a 4-3 shootout win with the help of a goal from Mark Mancari and shootout scores from Ennis and Gragnani. JP Lamouroux got the win on a rare night off for Jhonas Enroth.

BTW, Mancari is now quietly tied for 9th in AHL scoring with 49 points, and also 9th in goals with 20.

I think its time to give Mancari another shot. He's tearing it up this season, putting up ridiculous assist totals and having some pretty insane nights point total wise. He couldn't really be any worse than Kennedy or MacArthur so why not give him a shot.

and after a shaky start to the season I'm glad to see Jhonas looking freaking awesome as of late. If we can't find a suitable back-up for the rest of the season I am all for having Jhonas behind Miller instead of Lalime. Gives him some NHL experience and probably helps the team out alot more than Lalime would.

btw thanks for updating us on the Portland, ETC. Its something I always want to be updated on but always seem to forget about because of all the shit going on around the NHL this time of the year. I'm getting really stoked for the future.

Almost makes you wonder if Mancari might be able to adjust to the NHL if given another shot.

It'd be a great success story.

All really depends if Mancari's ready to use his size. If he can do that on a regular basis I'm sure Ruff would love him the the system, if not I bet he stays AHL or is used in a trade.

I'm beginning to think the fear that he may actually use his size could be holding him back. Remember the team mantra: "Don't hit, it'll take you out of position. Don't fight, it'll cost us a PP."

I'm hoping that he realizes how much his hold-out was a screw-up, and that it has an effect on his attitude. He really could have made a case for himself last camp, and set himself up perfectly to make the team next season for sure. He's been compared to Kotalik a lot, and I'm sure he's heard it. Maybe the drama with Kots this season could also make him see the light. I know it's not likely, but if he turned his head around and became the player he should be...that's a freakin' jackpot right there. Top two big and physical RW with a hella-shot that can dish the puck too? Damn if only...

Isn't Mancari the guy who held out at the beginning of the season? The guy who was ridiculed & who we wanted to dump?

Yeah. The same one that's been a bust every single chance he's had to play in the NHL.

Yeah. The same one that's been a bust every single chance he's had to play in the NHL.

The AHL is not the NHL though.

I'm silently beaming over Ennis' scrappy, productive play.

Mancari has passed through waivers on several occasions. We don't think he's good enough to play at the NHL level, and neither do 29 other teams.

No one will be trading for a guy they could have had for free on several occasions.

There have been many great AHL scorers who couldn't cut it at The NHL level, and this is nothing than more of the same.

I would give the guy another shot. It's not going to hurt the team. Mancari is a big body and yes I know he doesn't use it to his advantage and he's lazy but maybe a second chance will get him going in the right direction.

Why not just tell him, "This is your last shot with the big club. Show us something or we're going to dump you, and your career will be over." He's a UFA at the end of the year, right? So if that doesn't wake him the **** up, then we'll dump him.

He would probably be no worse than a couple of our current guys; but then that's not much of a measuring stick....

Mancari is a RFA in the summer, so Buffalo still can determine his future.
