The latest Mock Draft at this site (which I think deserves some respect due to the fact they had us takin Kassian since about 2 months before the draft) has us taking Emerson Etem, C, Medicine Hat Tigers. The kid has decent size, 6'0", 195 LBS and has put up decent numbers in the WHL, for the Medicine Hat Tigers, a team we seem to have gotten a good late 1st round pick outta with Ennis. I know its a long way away, but I also know many of you guys on this board live in Canada and get to hear about/ see these Junior guys more than we do and thought an official Draft Thread would be the best way to put everything in one place.......

sabresEH is the guy who knows the most about the WHL, patkane88 is our resident OHL nerd, and we all kinda fumble around with the QMJHL haha.

Yeah I think every mock draft last year had us taking Kassian. Emerson Etem would be a solid choice. Put up good numbers as a seventeen year old with very few pims. Scoring almost 40 goals at his age in the dub is very good. This choice has my approval 8-)

No Beau Bennet in his mock draft? Kids gonna be a first rounder for sure. Kids from Cali are becoming serious hockey players. Etem and Bennett are both from Cali. If we draft either one of them in the first I'll be happy.

All I know is I want Darcy to draft a skilled kid or two from the Dub because all kids in the WHL play a rougher, NHL-style game than the other two CHL leagues.

Also, keep drafting Tylers. That seems like a sound strategy.

I`ve never been a fan of drafting goalies in the first round. I think we should go for a dman first round this year.

I'm down with BPA.

But, if you want to focus on a position, I'd like a center ala Brock Nelson, Quinton Howden, or Ryan Martindale.

Our Thrid Round pick needs to be this kid:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectdet ... ?dpid=2463

Teemu Pulkkinen; he's the next coming of Zack Parise

Watch this video, He's number 92. He moves around the net well, follows the play the whole way, and puts himself into goal scoring positions. He's got intangibles, and once he develops a bit more, around age 22 this guy could be a real steal in the draft. He's rated number 17 overall of the European skaters, and should be around when we pick in the 3rd.

This man should be drafted by the Sabres if for no other reason than the super sweet name

At the start of the year Pulkkinen was a first rounder. He has slipped but I doubt he drops down to the third round. If he does then yeah take him but I'll be happily surprised if he's still around.
