do you guys think he will be able to play in the NHL next season? I think he's ready to play at least 10-25 games in the NHL. the question is, who's gonna be the 7th d-man? or will Loods and/or Hank be gone and Mike would fill that void?

Tallinder-Myers
Weber-Rivet
Lydman-Montador
Butler, Gragnani, Brennan

Thoughts?

In a perfect world, Tonza would re-sign on the cheap, Mike Weber would get a promotion, and some d-men would get traded to make room for a UFA signing like Gonchar.

If tallinder leaves and they don't sign anyone else I could see Weber, Butts, Gragnani and Sekera fight it out for the last starting spot.

I'd like to see what Weber looks like with Myers quite honestly. It would tough to go into next season relying on Weber to be the guy playing top pair minute with Myers. But I definitely think they would pair up nicely. I too would like to see loods re-signed. I like him and Montador as a pairing, and if Rivet can come back fully healthy from surgery he can still play some quality minutes. But not with Myers.

wow didnt think of that Weber-Myers pairing, that would be very interesting to see and i think that they would work together really good. a puck moving defenseman and a good defensive defenseman, kinda like the Seabrook-Keith pairing in Chicago

Yeah EH, I've mentioned that before also. I'd really like Weber paired with Myers, but of course we can't be real confident that Weber is ready for those minutes yet. If Weber looks compitent enough to make the team I'd try that out and see. Myers would make it fairly easy on Weber to just play his stay back and punish type of game.

I like Lydman with Montador also, I just hope the d-corps would be good enough to make them a 3rd pairing.

Before Slesh vanished, he said his buddy in Portland informed him that Weber is being groomed to be Myers partner. But like 1980 said, he needs to ease into those minutes.

A lot of people may not know this, but Lydman-Montador works well together because they have chemistry going back to 2003/2004 when they were partners during the Flames' Cup run.

the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Webber and Myers as our top-pairing. Obviously it won't be right away, but in a year or too, look out...

Weber reminds me a lot of what Rivet was like in his prime years in Montreal
