Overall, I'm very pleased with the qualifying offers. I would've preferred to have seen them keep either Kostka or Generous for depth instead of letting both go back to free agency, though.

What about Kaleta? I haven't heard a thing about him, and I know he doesn't apply to the minors, but I have heard absolutely nothing about any players being qualified.

I would be shocked if Mancari is back. I heard he wants a one way deal, and I doubt that would happen.

Too bad if he splits - he's not getting an NHL deal ANYWHERE and he's been good to the organization at the AHL level.

Derek Whitmore accepted his qualifying offer with the Sabres.

That gives the Pirates Whitmore, Crawford, Schiestel, Persson, Biega, and Brennan for sure. Weber most likely gets promoted, while Gragnani still has yet to accept his qualifying offer. So at the very least, the Pirates have their six defensemen ready to go for the next season.

Derek Whitmore is a forward though. 18 goals for the Pirates last year and I thought he was the Pirates leading scorer in the playoffs...
