Zack Kassian was born January 24, 1994. He does not turn 20 until Monday.

A player from the CHL must be 20 by December 31st of a league year in order to be eligible to play in that AHL season. (The alternative would be 4 years of juniors.) Since Kassian did not meet that deadline, he cannot play in the AHL this year.

He'll be there next year.

This may be covered somewhere else, but I really hate digging through threads. If Kassian is 20 years old now, why isn't he in Portland? I really have no idea how all the different leagues are set up (or why) so I'm just looking for the short answer. Also, who else do we have sprinkled around who are/should be Portland bound?

Squanto, isn't it September 15th or is that just for the Draft, I know if a RFA doesn't sign a contract by December 31st he can't play anywhere.
