Pirates might well have a familiar look"Among the unsigned free agents being considered by Dineen is Trevor Gillies, a fan favorite who spent two seasons with the Pirates before signing with the Carolina Hurricanes' organization in 2007.
"Trevor's a guy who is still in the evaluation process, but he's certainly a guy we feel can help our organization," Dineen said.
Among other potential signings from the free-agent ranks are Mike Hoffman, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound forward who spent two seasons with Portland before playing last season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves, and Simon Ferguson, a forward who played for the AHL's San Antonio Rampage last season after spending three seasons with the Pirates when they were affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks."Looks like the organization is bolstering the line-up, in anticipation of losing possible "graduates" to the big leagues; a good sign for Sabres' fans waiting on the kids to rise.
