McNabb going pointless ends his streak at 12 straight games with a point, but the Ice win 5-4 in OT and go back to Portland with a 3-1 series lead. McNabb also finished the night -1. Riley Boychuk had an assist tonight for the Winterhawks. |

Brayden McNabb (27 points, T-1st on team, T-2nd overall) and the Kootenay Ice win the Ed Chynoweth Cup and are on the way to Mississauga for the Memorial Cup! |

Watched a bit of the game last night. McNabb's GWA was nice. Little no look pass and gave Fraser all day to bury it. Should be a good tournament. Congrats to McNabb and the ice. Too bad they couldn't do this last year when fellow kelownian Dustin Sylvester was captain. But I guess it's ok that McNabb is the one leading the charge. |

That'd be pretty sweet Phil. My brother-in-law's aunt/uncle are huge Kootenay Ice fans and are heading to the memorial Cup tournament to cheer them on. |

The Kootenay/Portland series was a better series than you would realize from the fact that it only went 5 games. 3 games went into OT, and only the final game was really a butt-kicking. McNabb was pretty impressive. As said earlier, his assist to set up the GWG was a thing of beauty. I was there at game 5, and one thing that didn't come acroo=ss to me on TV, but did live, is that McNabb is a pretty big guy too. Riley Boychuk was more or less a none-factor in this series, and really throughout the playoffs. He's got the size and occasionally has the fight in him, but I'm not sure he has much else going for him. I don't expect to see him in blue and gold any time soon, and maybe not at all. |

Are you talking about that feather pass from McNabb to Fraser? Was beautiful, indeed. Listening on the radio, I couldn't get a good opinion on McNabb's defensive play. How did he look in his own zone? |

He looked good in his own zone. Like I said before, nothing flashy. He seems to be much more likely to poke a puck away from an attacker or get his stick in a passing lane than to just crush an attacker with a check. But he's effective and that's the bottom line. Plays PP and PK. He even got a little nasty giving Bartschi a good prolonged facewash at one point in Game 5. He kind of reminded me of a bigger Gragnani. Or maybe he fits the mold of a James Patrick or a Darryl Shannon. |
