It's sad Armia broke his hand. He was doing so well, and had a chance at making the team. I doubt he will, now.

Risto makes the team I feel. I still have a feeling Zadorov gets sent back to Juniors though, just for one more year.

Regier says they're on the fence, but I imagine they send him back. He's been great, but he could use some seasoning. He's still getting used to the North American game.

Per Bill Hoppe and that Round Mound Paul Hamilton, Risto made the opening night roster.

Not that it matters now, but it was unlikely Risto would have played in Rochester. From everything I could find in the transfer agreements, if he didn't make the NHL roster he had the right to go back home and play. He also made public comments saying he would do just that.

i dont like the idea of bringing up a prospect before hes ready (im very conservative with prospects, in my ideal world) and the prospect dictating where he will go.

however, risto is almost a year older then his draft year would look like (19 next month) and it sounds like he had a great camp. so lets do it.

In the preseason Risto looked better than a lot of veteran guys. Angles were excellent, never really seemed out of position. Good amount of aggression and toughness too. Fit right in.

I don't get up for many kids, but this one seems to have something different.

If you want to see something awesome from Risto, check out the home game against Toronto in the highlights on NHL.com. The first play he makes is unreal.

Risto is more ready for the big leagues than Grigs is.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

I don't see it. Grigs is doing fine. He was very very good in the Columbus game.

Obviously last night's game wasn't on TV so who knows.

He's much more comfortable this year than last year. But it's too bad for you seeing how he's playing in Buffalo regardless of what you or anyone thinks.

I'm still not sure about Grigo. The talent's there, yes, but the hard work isn't. He's trying to get by on talent alone, and it shows in the way his skating hasn't improved at all.

Again. Great talent, and you can see that, but that doesn't always translate in the NHL if the player isn't working hard, as well.

I disagree fully with what you're seeing. His skating is fine. From when I was watching he never stood out on not being able to keep up or anything.

And I've seen the kid work hard in the corners to get the puck and to go to the center of the ice in front of the net also.

i heard from press that scouts think his skating improved and grigo stayed in buffalo this off season to work on his skating.
