I know you posted this more than a week ago, but it is a quietly sad song to mark the quietly sad 10th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan, which doesn't look to end favorably for the U.S. anytime soon.

-sigh-

It's a sad realization.

Kickin' it old school with Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood at the Crossroads Guitar Festival last year.

Dear Mr. Fantasy.

This type of musical talent collaborating should be illegal.

I'm listening to Dave Matthews.

I try the band out every few months because my wife and son love them, but they are just ok, to me. I like Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King alright, but I just don't have that fanaticism about them that some of their fans do (my family included).

ETC is gone, but his thread lives on. Cyber-immortality.

(I'm listening to the Grateful Dead live album "Go To Nassau" from their May15 & 16, 1980 concerts at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale)

Really letting your hippie flag fly in this new Mr. Natural persona eh? You should chime in on the cannibus thread.

I saw the Dead at the Rochester War Memorial back in the late '70s, but wouldn't call myself a Dead-head. I have a friend who is fanatical about them and he loaned me the CD.

I went to that concert with my then girlfriend, now wife, and I genuinely feared for her life for a few minutes when they opened the doors. The War Memorial only holds 13,000 people, but they only opened one set of doors to let in the crowd. We were literally swept into the arena by a wave of people. If my wife, who is only 5'1", had fallen she would have been trampled to death (as happened at a concert in Cincinnati in '79, where 11 people were killed).

As to the cannibus thread, I don't think I have anything to add that hasn't been said a million times.

Here's my obligatory Grateful Dead joke:

What did the Deadhead say when he ran out of pot?

"Man, this music sucks"

That's funny, because deadheads say, "What did the Phish fan say when he ran out of drugs?

Man this music sucks."

I love the Dead and I love Phish.

This is what I'm listening to now.

That beats either the Dead or Phish.

I've never heard that before, but it was the funniest thing I've heard today. Of course, it is only the second joke I've heard today, the other being, "What do you do if attacked by a gang of clowns? Go for the juggler."

It's pretty damn awesome, but it doesn't beat either of them. :)

The Velvet Underground! Don't even get me started on how great they were!
