Title says it all. What's yours? Mine is The Tea Party. Such an incredible mixture of Indian and Middle-Eastern elements, electronics, and psychedelic classic rock. With song titles pulled from works on pagan, heathen, and shamanism and such mastery over so many instruments...goddamn, I miss this band. Everyone has that one band that they will always feel as one with, and for me, it's The Tea Party. (That's a 1916 Leo Gibson hand-built harp guitar - one of six ever made - that he's playing, by the way) |

Fields, an indie band from the UK that was together for only 3-4 years. They released only 1 album and 1 EP and never became popular but their sound is so good and original(60s pop done with a mix of electro, psychedelic, folk and shoegazing rock). They broke up after recording their 2nd album but never released it(you can still pre-order it on the net...). Anyway, I had high hopes for this band but their record, Everything Last Winter, is just perfect so maybe it's better that they never released anything else. Aaaaaaand the keyboardist/singer, Thorunn Anthonia is extremely cute. http://www.myspace.com/fieldsband I also wish I was alive when the Smiths were together. |

Almost all my favorite bands are defunct. Some of the ones that aren't yet probably ought to be, since creatively they are shadows of their former selves (for example the Rolling Stones, still together, but no longer relevant). But some key, and sorely missed acts: The Jesus Lizard Bongwater Archers of Loaf Can The Pixies |

Obviously, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Led Zeppelin also. Original Black Sabbath also. |

Original Guns N' Roses Led Zeppelin SRV and Double Trouble Van Halen (Not sure what the hell they're doing, but I'll consider them defunct for now. Also, I mean both the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar eras.) Pantera. I don't listen to a lot of heavy metal, but they're one of the few I listen to. |
