Reminds me of The Locust, but on less drugs.

I dunno, I don't dig this. We've all got our own definitions of good music - this doesn't fit mine at all.

I think it may have been someone moving their zipper up and down.

I'm not quite sure what they're trying to pull off there.

Parts of it sound like Slipknot one octave higher than normal pumped through a broken high-pass filter on a mixer that's getting cell phone interference.

Do not dig.

I do like some math metal, but something about that rubbed me the wrong way.

Might be it.

Speaking of odd voices, I saw a band yesterday called Screaming Females. SO GOOD.

If that's a good example of mathcore, I think I'll pass on it.

I can deal with some time shifting, but that just doesn't seem to connect, or have any purpose. It's as if they're changing time just because they can, not because it serves any real purpose.

The problem with math metal and mathcore is that there's no rhythm. Even in the gnarliest metal I listen to, there's solid rhythm. Hell, some of it even has an identifiable groove. But math metal is fucking around with time signatures and dissident chords for its own sake.
