Yeah, all of that...

I <3 Lithium on XM/Sirius satellite radio. Plays everything of this nature to meet your alt rock and grunge needs.

You should add Cake to your list as well.

Sorry to jump in here for directions, and not leave some music. How about Weezer? I always liked them for a 90's radio band. Sweater Song is a classic 90's anthem.

Yea Weezer is a good choice. Buddy Holly, The Sweater Song, El Scorcho.

Would Rammstein fall into this? I'd think Du Hast was one of the bigger late-90's hits that helped keep the industrial-rock thing going in the public eye.

i'm not sure i'd consider rammstein alt rock, but sure...the 90's were a special thing when it came to music. like the '65-'75 metal scene..the beginnings.

Well, I wouldn't either, but it just seemed that anything that wasn't purely rap, pop, metal, techno, jazz, etc was just given the alt or alt rock tag.

But yea, the 90's were a special thing.

To be honest, I'm having trouble figuring what would qualify, and what wouldn't. The original list is so all over the place. A lot of the styles go together, but others just don't seem comparable. Proclaimers and Butthole Surfers on the same list? Alantis Morrisette and the Bosstones? What is alt-rock in this scheme?

alt rock is potentially the most liberal music label ever. anything where it's a band...drums, bass, guitar, singer...etc. and it has some power chords.
