Sabres notebook

Great write-up about Myers' first game, including an awesome little line by Miller - "If that's his first game, I'm excited to see his late-season stuff"

Yea the Miller quote is awesome.

It looks like everyone is behind this kid and what he is capable of becoming, and what he already is.

16 minutes of icetime is damn good for a rookie first every NHL game.

The quote from Lindy is the most telling, and may be a VERY good sign for his career:

Quote:
He made a lot of good decisions, a lot of good plays. If you're going to have young players, you've got to play them and make them feel like they're part of the game.

Yea that was awesome how the coach said that.

Oh, yeah, I like that quote from Ruff.

Please follow it up with action, Lindy. kthx.

In all seriousness, though, it is great that Myers is being recognized by his team for his great work, and it's only one game in. I hope that they continue to aid in his development by praising him when he does well and not failing to call him out when he messes up. He should be held to a high standard; not only could he rise to meet it, but he seems to have the character and quiet balls of steel to actually do so in response to constructive criticism, unlike quite a few players in the league. I want him to be a franchise player... I really think he could do it, based not on the first game of his infant career but on everything leading up to this point, how much he has improved and continues to improve.

Hey Myers is still playing for a roster spot, so he is going to play hard until he gets it, and I hope by then he never gives up to get better.
