well that is room for myers and we don't really lose anything, even though sekera is still a kid. unless they trade tallinder and make room for gragnani or give paestch a shot.

If they're looking for a purely offensive, puck carrying defensman they have grags in the system. Trade Sekera while he's young so we can still use the "potential" card

The Kalinin/sekera comparison is apt, but while kalinin pretty clearly lacked overall heart/passion...I get the feeling Sekera is just not in the right head-space. I think he cares deeply, but needs to be able to relax and see the ice, find a way to get in that zen zone of action without conscious thought. While there was really no way for lindy to inject heart into the doughboy kalinin while he was here, I do trust him to have a beneficial affect on sekera, and to get him where he needs to be.

Manning the machine gun on the Tyler Myers Bandwagon - just in case any teams have an idea of prying him away from us (3 GM's shot already)

Connolly/Roy - 2 goals in the last 47 playoff games

Spacek normally got that ice-time every game, same with Lydman.

Not spectacular guys, but our best guys.

I didn't say 22.16 or 21.46, I said 25 minutes. Chara-like minutes. Not overpaid veteran defensemen minutes.

EDIT: To expand on my point, yea, Ruff has played defensemen for plenty of minutes when they didn't exactly deserve it. But this was around 20-22 minutes. Not exactly 25 minutes.

Well, so far he has exceeded expectations. He is not even really using his size yet; it's about making smart plays, and anticipation so far. He is ahead of the curb, so to speak. I wouldn't label him a "beast" yet; but rather an advanced oversized defenseman - very rare indeed for 19.......

It could possibly be because he wasn't and still isn't guaranteed his roster spot yet.

If he stays up, that list will change with Myers on it, because he is probably the furthest developed d-men taken from the 2008 draft.

Is there anyone who still feels we should have taken Colton Teubert at that pick?

Has he started for LA yet?

Anyone think Myers is better then Schenn?

Too early to tell. Just enjoy the ride as long as it lasts, be it a few games, or the whole season, and beyond!

(Based on strictly the first three games, yes; but they play 82 - or more....)

Leafs fans are, as of the conclusion of the preseason, terrified Myers is already better than Schenn. They're downright convinced. But then again, these are Leafs fans we're talking about.

I might be alone, but I was sure that Myers was the better pick (over Teubert) during the WJC last year. And he may have played for them last season during his tryout, but he isn't on their roster now.

You know, I've been thinking along these lines since training camp. Darcy looks pretty smart to make that trade to move up a spot, now, doesn't he? That's his M.O., though. Little moves and trades that turn out to be big deals. He was high on Myers back then, but I don't think anyone at that point expected him to develop so fast. The MVP honors in the playoffs, his performane at the WJC, his strong training camp and solid start in his first 3 games, he seems to be progressing really well. What a (well-needed) boon that will be for this team.

Ham
