I know...its early in the season.

However...

I'm psyched about this year. Tyler Myers is such a ray of sunshine and our former young guys (Vanek, Pomms, etc) are showing maturity. Grier is such a...whats the word I'm looking for...well, it feels like I've been on a diet and I can finally get back in my old jeans. Its nice to have them/him back and they/he makes me feel like the good ole days.

I really like Montador. Although he has a slightly vacant look on his face most times, he seems very focused and is doing his job well. And he seems happy to be here.

I still miss Spacho, but I'll get over it.

What things are making you optimistic about the games to come?

The offensive minded system.

I attribute much of our early success to the system.

But the fact that we've toughened up quite a bit and added leadership to the locker room definitely enhances it.

With the Bills sucking so bad, the Sabres have another opportunity to grab the fans.

Well, JD, you mean, "this is an even better chance to tighten their grip on the Buffalo sports scene". The Sabres surpassed the Bills in 2005 and it hasn't changed since.

And for the first time we can run this system and not worry about getting our asses handed to us by one checking line.

Just today I thought, "Thank God hockey season has started...distract me from the wretchedness that is the Bills."

What excites me this season? Let me count the ways.

Added toughness (physical and mental). A healthy Miller (thus far). Tyler Myers impressive start. Butler's continued progression. Kennedy looking like a real hard-nosed player. More Patty Kaleta! A healthy Tim Connolly (thus far). Moving Hecht back to the wing. Montador looking solid in his first 3 games. Oh yeah, and no Andrew Peters!

Some things have me concerned, however. Sekera looking horrid (though his injury actually gets him out of the lineup, thank the Lord). The apparent absence of Vanek and Pommers. Tallinder possibly repeating his previous 2 years' performance.

But all in all, I'm pumped.

Ham

I get the idea that Lindy seems kinda energized and psyched, when he could have been bummed out, burned out, going through the motions. Just saying.

And Mike Grier eats frosted kryptonite flakes for breakfast.

What excites me is the fact that we are doing good enough to constitute a thread like this being made

Good point. Lindy looked like he was ready to be moved at the end of last season, but he's actually looking pretty pumped out there. Granted we're 3 games in, but it's a good sign if his energy is wearing off on the team.

He has new pieces now, good ones. He looked so weary at the end of last season... The 180 in Ruff's demeanor is great news for the team as a whole. They feed off each other, cyclical... Obviously... I just hope that this continues, because right now, I kind of love the Sabres again, in a non-"I'm a fan" sort of way, if that makes sense.

Before their seasons, I was excited about the Bills and not excited at all about the Sabres.. Totally opposite now..

And Im not excited about the Sabres only because they picked up 5 out of the 1st 6 points.. But they have fixed everything that I was pissed about last year.. Didn't help our Miller, can't finish 1 goal games, no grit, no leadership, not playing for 60 minutes each game.. All of those things have disappeared.. Also, our youngsters are playing like veterans and Greier and Montadour are playing tough hockey for us.. Im not missing Afinogenov and Kotalik at all.. Well, I miss the old Max(the Max 5 years ago)..

Yea, you will always love the Sabres because they are your team, but this 09-10 team is a team that you love because of the players on it and their attitude...

It's the same way for me too..

Let's Go Buffalo!

You have to remember how promising the first 8 games for us looked last year also. I'm just saying.

Lets hope they continue this throughout the season, and not falter like last year.

Yup, do not fade out.

I hope our guys pace themselves, whatever that means. We don't need any lightning fast starts . . . you know where that has gotten us.

Finish the season strong and peak for the playoffs.

Gooooood point. They looked AMAZING the first ten games or so last year; then it was back to the status quo, though until Miller was injured they were still a playoff team and would have likely ended up the fifth or sixth seed, though I don't think they would have gone very far at all... which is the problem.

But, yeah. They were flat-out beautiful at the beginning of last season.
