Looking forward to another night or two of the Invisible Mancari Game, followed by 3 weeks of 'he never gets a chance' posts.

I don't have a problem with the choice of him being called up. With what's there, I think he's your best option.

I'm just dreading the day that he gets sent back and people whine about his talent, etc, even though he won't do anything of note when he's here. If you can't make the team out of camp, you have to play lights out and make it hard for them to send you back. Mancari won't.

So we're on the same page. He's the best option we've got; he's just not a good option.

I would have liked Stuart, but here's his chance.

Mancari has had several opportunities to sparkle with the Sabres, all have not been that well. This is an opportunity to showcase him if he's involved in a future trade before season's end.

Mancari adds one thing to our roster that we are missing with Neids, Staff, and to a lesser extent Connolly all out, and that's size. Granted you can be 6'8 250 pounds, but if you play like a pussy it doesn't do much for you. Ask Mike Wilson...on yeah, I went there

I really don't think we're missing size anymore. The Sabres are a tough team this year.

Between McCormick, Weber, Morrisonn, Myers, Gaustad, Kaleta... even Stafford, Vanek, Grier, and Hecht to an extent.

The Sabres aren't pushovers anymore.

Oh yeah, I can agree with what you're saying. 100% actually, I just think that with 3 "bigger" guys out at the moment, between calling up a skill guy like Byron, or something; Mark Mancari adds just a bit more physical edge, and a lot more size than the dudes under 6ft in the minors.

I had hopes for Mancari, and at this point I have to assume that something about his game or attitude is not worthy of NHL minutes. That said, "all of his chances" amounted to a few call-ups for a couple games each...one time it was seven games. A whole 16 games over three seasons doesn't amount to much of a chance to show you can compete and produce at the NHL level no matter who you are. But like a thousand other players, I have to assume by now that he doesn't deserve more than that.

BTW, you can find a lot worse production by "promising" call-ups than 5pts in 16 games. That's a 25 pt season and many rookies wouldn't hit that mark in a full season. I don't think he's looked so bad, but I suppose there's more to it (attitude, effort, etc).

Well, Mancari probably would have made this roster a few years ago, but held out all of camp hoping for a 1 way contract, and in the end, screwed himself out of a roster spot. I think it went to either Matt Ellis, or Mike Ryan, I'd have to go back and look, but he definitely could have made the roster a few years ago, but his greed cost him an NHL career.

Definitely a dumb move on his part, but I hope it's not another example of the organization holding a grudge.

I dont think it is, I can't think of one guy on our roster now that I would rather trade for Mancari, a few years ago, yeah, but not now. Even our least productive forwards still have a more all around game than Mancari, who is a less talented version of Kotalik

You make your bones in the NHL out of training camp. He's never been able to beat out anyone in camp.

If you can't do it in camp, you have to play out of your mind on a callup to not be sent back, aka Tyler Ennis last year.

Mark Mancari is a career AHLer. There's nothing wrong with that, but I bristle at the suggest that he hasn't been given a fair shot.

I don't disagree, but he hasn't had the red carpet rolled out for him either.

...Actually, there's not much difference between him and Stafford, except that Stafford was called up in the 06-07 pinball scoring days and plopped on a line with Roy and Vanek. Darcy pulled the trigger on signing him to an NHL contract and can't get away from him now. Mancari wouldn't be much different, and not much of a success either, but certainly have had a better chance to prove himself.

Nor should he. Guys like him need to earn their way into the league through work. Only top tier talent gets things handed to them, and he is not top tier talent.

I think if the cameras were off the Thessalonian would've torn Brad apart.
