As anyone can attest to with my stat tracking threads for prospects, I've been high on Weber since his original call-up. He had like a +20 last season in Portland, which is huge for a defensive d-man.

I've wanted him on the roster ever since he and Sekera went on a tear at the end of the 07-08 season.

Also, Weber and McCormick are certainly keeping me watching. Weber has become a bit of a beast on the blueline and McCormick is in line to be my next jersey provided he stays in Buffalo.

Weber needs to work on his fighting.

That is all...

If that's all he's got to work on, I think he'll be OK. Whether or not he fixes it, he'll be fine.

webers a good stay at home dman. hes really going to be a SOLID bottom 4 guy. not like a, "he the number 5 guy cause he sucks." guy. a "hes a number 5 guy cause he doesnt provide much offense, but damn is his defense great!" guy.

Depending on how some of our other d-men develop, I think there can be room for a shut-down guy in the top two pairings.

Well, I think your defensive pairings should generally compliment one another. If you have two d-men that are equally competent in both ends of the ice, then they should be paired together. But if one is more gifted offensively than defensively, you should pair him with a good shut-down d-man.

Then again, there's always the option of putting two shut-down d-men together together and putting them out there with your checking line to almost completely negate any chances of the opponent scoring.

My seatbelt is fastened, but not tightly enough.

I agree, but ideally I like having one d-man who can move the puck accurately on all 3 tandems. Players permitting of course.

You know, with this team we'd better keep the seatbelt on at all times because it sure likes to swerve into oncoming traffic and really scare you, and occasionally wreck.

Only 5 points back now(pro-rated). If nothing else, I want Pegula to walk into playoff revenues. Something Tommy might be giving up on(just a speculation). Sometimes the fairy tale sounds too good, doesn't it.

Now that the Sabres are in 10th with their win today against the Isles, (Those 4 points left on the table could come back to haunt us), but looking at the next 10 games for the Sabres (10th), Panthers (11th), Hurricanes (9th), and Thrashers (8th). So some general thoughts on good outcomes for the Sabres. I'm not going to say we will be in 8th at the end of the next 10 games, but we could be angling really close to or even in 9th with 24 games to get into 8th.

There's still a lot of season left. With all this talk of the Sabres playoffs chances recently, it felt like time was running out. There's 34 games games to jump 2 spots in the standings. But I guess I can see where the tension lies as its 11 points to jump into 7th/6th. We'd have to put on a pretty good run and get some help to get into 7th/6th, so its likely 8th or bust.

1. The Sabres have PIT, TB, and we seem to have trouble with FLA, but its not a particularly difficult stretch of games. In our last 11 games we've scored 3 or more goals 7 times...which is nice considering the injuries.
2. It would be nice for NJ to keep its run going.
3. Buffalo and Atlanta seem to have the easiest schedule in the next 10, while Florida and Carolina seem to have it tougher.
4. I loathe rooting for Toronto, but if they could put together a little run, save the game against us, it would be nice. (Probably not going to happen, but would be nice.) If we keep winning, then we won't have to worry about them catching us if they did.
5. There's only 5 games out of this set of 40 tilts between Southeast Division teams, so not many of those flippin' 3 point games concerning teams right around us in the standings. Although watch in those 5 games Carolina and Atlanta get max points. I flippin' hate it when 2 teams just ahead of us in the standings both get points playing each other.

*****************************************************
Carolina (9th, 3 points up on BUF, even games played)
Toronto, Isles, Boston, Toronto, Atlanta, New Jersey, Philly, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, New Jersey
5 teams in the top 8 and NJ who's putting on a little run right now.

Florida (11th Place, 2 Pts. back, Game in Hand over BUF)
Rangers, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, New Jersey, St. Louis, Buffalo, San Jose, Philly, Detroit
6 out of 10 games against top 8 teams and NJ.

Atlanta (8th Place, BUF has 3 games in hand over ATL)
Washington, Isles, Calgary, Carolina, Toronto, Rangers, Carolina, Phoenix, Edmonton, Buffalo
3 games against top 8 teams.

Buffalo (10th Place)
Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Florida, Isles, Montreal, Toronto, St. Louis
3 games against top 8 teams
