Yup all in all keeping Vanek was the only choice Regier really had. After Brier + Drury left on July 1st Sabres couldn't let Vanek go. Ya those 1st rounders would have been nice but who says they'd be high picks? Vanek could have torn it up with the EDM system.

Indeed, but there would've been riots if we lost Vanek that year. Fucking Golisano. All he had to do was let Darcy do his thing, and keep Briere and Drury at a reasonable deal.
