Oh please NHLPA accept it.

9% isn't bad, it especially isn't bad since players already make so much.

Admittedly, I don’t follow the details of these labor problems, so please correct me if I get any of this wrong.

Wasn’t the 2004 lockout a situation where the players were making stupid demands, and the owners basically said ‘get real’? They eventually signed a new deal where the players had to back off a lot on their demands, and for lack of a better word, the owners ‘won’.

Since then, the NHL has been successful enough to have the salary cap rise by leaps and bounds every year. Granted, the owners are paying more in salaries as a result, but isn’t that tied to the financial success of the NHL? The part about the owners being so gracious as to ‘compromise’ by only demanding a 9% reduction of all EXISTING player salaries, instead of a 24% reduction of all EXISTING salaries really pisses me off. The owners willingly signed every one of those contracts, and I don’t see any reason why they feel they can renege on EXISTING good faith agreements.

If the owners fucked up the last deal for lack of foresight, and they want to re-negotiate the terms going forward, that’s fine with me. But these assholes are coming in with the position that they’re doing the players a favor by ONLY demanding a 9% rebate on EXISTING GOOD FAITH AGREEMENTS!!! It doesn’t matter how much money the players are making. This is bullshit, plain and simple. I would never agree to this if I was a player. If the owners were running a coal mine in West Virginia and tried to pull this shit on the miners, they would be in grave personal danger, and rightly so.

Somebody please tell me that it’s not actually this bad.

9% doesn't seem bad at all. They say contracts won't rollback in that piece like in 04.

Honestly, it needs to be like the NBA and NFL, split evenly at 50%, players are getting 57% if I recall correctly, so even if it means 48% right now, that's not too bad of a reduction.

I'm an idiot. The first song is by Maybeshewill, not 65daysofstatic. Mixed up my one-word post rock band names. I also have that album, just haven't listened to it in forever. Thank you sir.
