Well, if a coach under Ruff would take over, I'd assume it'd be temporary.

You obviously haven't been watchin this team squander ridiculous amounts of talent the past 8 years.

Soooo much of my life happened during Lindy's tenure that it's almost hard to believe. I left WNY for Portland. I went to graduate school and became a teacher. My parents both got remarried. I got married. All four of my grandparents died. My brother moved to Africa. I visited him there. Also went to Europe and the Caribbean. I've played in six different bands. My wife was almost paralyzed. I quit smoking. The list goes on and on.

It will take me a while to adjust to seeing someone else behind the bench.

I'm a huge Lindy fan, but this needed to happen. As a player Lindy played defense and forward for us, got into some good scraps, and wore the C, in addition to this incredibly long coaching stint. I'd really like him to stay in the organization, but I don't know if he'd prefer to continue coaching somewhere else.

No argument here. I'm just being nostalgic and realizing that, rightly or wrongly, we'll probably never see that much consistency in this team again. Lindy behind the bench was kinda like Dick Clark in Times Square at New Years. Now he's fired and Clark is dead.

Hide Stu's razor blades

I'm looking at the other side....the side that gives us at least a chance of rebuilding into the Cup team Pegula promised

I'm really not unhappy about the move from a hockey-perspective. Just one of those things that makes me reflective.

The TSN message boards have Lindy going to Colorado, NY Rangers, Columbus, Edmonton, Toronto, the GM in Toronto, etc. Someone said that some team will fire their current coach just to get Ruff. Popular sentiment appears to be that Regier should have gotten the axe, not Lindy.

popular sentiment is stupid.

If the Rangers fired Tortorella to hire Ruff I would not be opposed to getting Tortorella, or if Philly fired Loviolette... as much as I hate the guy.... cannot deny he is a pretty good coach...

\And of course I say these things assuming that Rolston doesn't fully assume the head coaching job after this season.

Sweet, then I cannot wait to play those teams.

Isn't torts still with the Rags? I'd make that trade any day of the week.

That's how I feel. I think Regier is more responsible for the lack of success than Ruff.
Think about the outrage when Ruff wins a cup with his next team.

You really think the problem here is the players, and (was) not the coach?

How so? The reason I ask is that the roster has changed....talent has been injected....moves have been made but still the team flounders. We have a good team on paper and a terrible one on the ice. That makes me believe, and I'm not alone in this, that the fault doesn't lie with Darcy but instead the guy who's job it is to transfer the good team on paper to wins on the ice. It seems like mismanagement when there is such a disparity between high ability and low achievement.

Now, where I am torn is that if you know your coach's style then at what point does fault lie with Darcy for trying to add square pegs to Lindy's round hole system? He got great pieces but not ones that fit into what Ruff was trying to do. That being said, we have had many roster changes and the overall product was one of failure.
