We will have reached the absolute 'low point' when we lose tonight and the Blue Jackets win. We'll be at the bottom of the entire league. I don't think that has ever happened in the 43 year history of the Sabres, not even their first year. If we don't make it tonight we'll be there soon.

I have checked the NHL site and under standings the Sabres have never ended the year at the bottom. In their first year 1970 when they should have been terrible, Vancouver, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and the California Seals had fewer points. Intrestingly Detroit had 90+ points in '69 and then in '70 they dropped to the mid 50s. Saturday's Islander game would qualify as another candidate for the 'low point' award. I don't remember ever seeing them look more pathetic, even when they lost by bigger scores. Kaleta was the only one with any juice.

We were the worst in 1986-87. It was technically a tie, but we had fewer wins. That's how we got the #1 overall pick and took Pierre Turgeon.

I'm just gonna have to say this season as my low point, because it's so hard to understand. The years between 2002 and the lockout were rough, but we knew why, spotty goaltending and lack of offense. When Drury and Danny left we knew why the team struggled and it was expected. No Goal...that team couldn't really match up to the Stars outside of in the net.

But right now, there is no reason this should not be a better team. Too much money has been spent, too many players have been in place for too long. This season has turned into under-achieving bullshit.

I wasn't born yet, but I think maybe those that have followed this team from the beginning might say Tim Horton's death was the team's low point.
