found a date 8-29. the construction of vaughn v5s are much different than his current heatons. obviously he didnt like them. |

but, there is also a picture of him wearing the same v5s at first niagara. that picture above was taken in LA over the summer. |

I think Miller has been going with two masks in practice this season; his regular one and a lighter color/more cartoonish version which, I happen to like. But what I like and don't like, really doesn’t matter in this thread so I'll just go back to sipping my coffee. |

The rest is just fluff fluff is fun for some people. especially when a goalie who has been wearing the same pad since becoming pro suddenly switches to something drastic. though i do recall him wearing vaughns at michigan state. |

Design-wise, I don't think they look much different than the Reebok's. Structure-wise, they're probably not that much different other than weight. I'd imagine he'd be able to customize the pads to his liking. |

miller is one of the few goalies around who still used shin rolls. those vaughns dont have shin rolls. shin rolls give. almost like an accordion, in a bullerfly. the pad has more give, less rebounds, ect. vaughns are basically flat faced pads with knee rolls. it may not mean much, but you have to wonder. of course those vaughns could be re-skinned heatons like his reeboks are. alot of goalies use re-skinned pads. tim thomas used to wear vaughn skinned PIKUs. PIKU doesnt pay licensing fees, therefor.... re-skinned. but, i believe millers heatons have a soft boot, whereas vaughns typically have a stiffer boot. that could be the reason too. |

Would advancing age affect his pad choices? We all get older, stiffer, less flexible, less able to absorb punishment. Things we bounced back from at age 24 start to matter at age 30... What's the goalie opinion on that thought? |

eeh, i dont know. i could see him modding knee stacks (landing gear) but i mean, millers heatons are still a pro level pad that is made to with millers specifications. id think if that was the reason, the pads would evolve with miller. theres also new pictures popping up of miller demoing true reebok P4s. so he might just be product testing. he was testing 605s, 600s, and 588s. (break numbers) maybe he just wants a different feeling. |
