The Lightning bought him out... Anyone want him? For the right price, of course. Could give us that big name veteran C that can score and bring a physical presence... Anyone want him?

I'd be willing to give him no more than around $3.5 million. He's 33 and still receiving tons of money from Tampa Bay.

He's getting old.
His production is dropping.
He has been missing games the last 3 years, mostly due to breaking his right hand 2 different times.

In spite of all that, some team is going to offer him way more than he's worth now, and I hope it's not us. I doubt he would want to be a Sabre this late in his career right when we're starting to rebuild, anyway.

His point total this year was on pace for around 67-68 points... That's not 90, but come now, he's still a good player. And he DID play 39 games this year, which is a decent enough amount. I agree on the price, though. I only want him if he's not getting overpaid. 4 mill is my max.

I think we're on the same page. He is slipping, but he's still got some good hockey in him. I would totally go for $4 mil for a year or two. I just think he's going to get more than that.

What does he have now? Like, 7 million?

I'd be up for bringing him in. Buy out Stafford and give him that money for a year or two. Play him with Vanek and see what they can do.

An experienced center with good scoring ability, long-time captain, Stanley-cup winner, great team-guy and upstanding citizen who raises millions for kids with cancer. What's not to like about this guy? Seems this is the kind of player a young team needs to bring them back to respectability and playoff contention. Kinda like Rod Brind'Amour did for the Canes not that long ago, but a more skilled version.

I would love this, but I wonder how much he's going to end up getting paid by whomever takes him.

Brad Richards was bought out as well... Interesting...

As for Vinnie Lecavalier, he was getting paid 7.7 million. I highly doubt someone signs him for that annual cap hit. I'm guessing the max he will get in 6 mill. I would only go 4, but I'm sure others including the Sabres would be willing to pay him higher.

Brad Richards wasn't bought out. They're apparently giving him one more year. I think that's smart.

Wow. It said they bought him out, earlier. Must've changed their minds.

Love to have him on the team...but I strongly feel he is not in Darcy's grand plans

I doubt he gets 6 million from anyone. Unless it's for one year on a team with low salary cap. Tampa should have never signed him to that 10 year deal.
