Edit: Colorado power play rankings while Sacco was coach:

2009-10: 15
2010-11: 11
2011-12: 9
2012-13: 24

A coach as an assistant coach? Nice, I think?

Everyone has to re-start somewhere.

That should be it. Anyone else they hire should be extra.

So, you guys are ok with a coach who has only had one winning season, out of four, and finished last in the Western Conference last season. Oh and NO OTHER TEAM WOULD HIRE HIM!!!!!

This team is just getting better and better.... :bang:

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Might want to chill out there, buddy. He's an assistant coach.

I feel the that to be winner, you need to surround yourself with winners. I would not really call him that.....

Very trivial way of looking at it. Hiring a former head coach to be your assistant coach shouldn't be deemed a failure until we see our powerplay, which, last time I checked, can't get much worse...

Before being head coach of the New England Patriots, Belichick had one winning season with the Cleveland Browns out of 4 years.

Plenty of coaches get fired after a terrible performance after a couple of years.

And they had two winning seasons, a 41-35-6 record is a winning season. They just did not make the playoffs that year. And their team this year, struggled to score.

Why should Lindy Ruff been given another chance after his shit also?

As a head coach. He was up for 3 other head coaching jobs.

This is an assistant coach. John Stevens was fired out of Philadelphia and became the assistant in L.A. I think that worked out for them.

http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-coach-ron-rolston-calls-new-assistant-joe-sacco-perfect-fit/

Quote:
The 44-year-old Sacco, fired by the Colorado Avalanche in April after four seasons as coach, had been interviewing with some other teams. When those opportunities ended, “He was obviously a no-brainer at that point to bring in and see if this would be a place that he’d want to come to and be involved,” Rolston said.

Just because he was interviewed, doesn't mean he was "Up for" those positions. If he was up for them then he would have been hired.....

I guess he plans on being involved with special teams. Can do much worse than the Sabres did last season....

I guess I have to get my terms correct for you. Here I thought "interview" coincided with "the team [at the very least] is interested in the coach."

We could somehow get Crosby, OV, Malkin, Stamkos all on this team and you'd still be disappointed.

Nothing the Sabres do ever pleases you.
