As per TSN, Briere told the Buffalo News the Sabres were among eight teams he wants to go to.

"Danny Boy

With Vincent Lecavalier off the market, some of the focus will now be on unrestricted free agent Daniel Briere.

The Canadiens, having lost out on Lecavalier, made contact with Briere's camp Tuesday night, a source confirmed to Pierre LeBrun. Sources also indicated that the New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators are among the teams to show solid interest in Briere and have already spoken to the Briere camp, which is led by agent Pat Brisson. Other teams were expected to contact Briere's camp Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Briere is apparently no longer considering the New York Islanders, but the New Jersey Devils are one of the finalists, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple. Briere told the Buffalo News earlier Wednesday he was down to eight teams, including his former team the Sabres."

We plan to buy out Gerbe, could be a move to land Briere. Mostly for the roster spot.

Meh
I see a lot of Sabres fans begging to bring him back. We're rebuilding, he's expensive, I don't see it.

He's going to be less than 5 million, so it's not all that expensive. Especially since we got rid of Regher, Leopold, Gerbe, and Pomminville

No argument here. We ARE rebuilding.

If I were Briere, I would string Darcy along as much as I could then go tell him to fuck himself.

I agree with XC, not worth it and there is nothing here for him. He's getting up there in age and this team will be no where near a playoff run (let alone Stanley Cup) for several years. Also, I personally think Darcy sees this as an opportunity to wins fans over.

The reason why people want him here is trying to relive the past. That won't happen, book it.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

I haven't wanted him back since he left, and really don't care now.

There's no reason to bring in a 35-year old over-the-hill-guy. At least this year and probably next year is full rebuild mode.

As I said before, still glad he didn't come back. We want rebuild time, not lets get old players back time.

I want my young drafted players in those spots instead.
