He recently published a book on hockey analytic. Very interesting interview with Matthew Coller.

http://audio.wgr550.com/a/79011030/8-3-rob-vollman-talks-hockey-statistics-with-matthew-coller.htm

highlights:
- there are limitations to any statistics. No single statistic is full proof
- Sabres are projected to be second last next season
- He applauded the Sabres for trying to make moves, in the past few seasons, in an effort to improve. Although they were the wrong moves
- Lindy has been an "ok" coach. Didn't hurt the Sabres but really didn't help them either
- The safest and under-valued way for the Sabres to build a successful team is to acquire possession based players
- Statically, Miller is an above average goalie but not a top ten

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Those are all pretty accurate statements, but on stats, certain stats tell the story better than others, but no stat will ever tell the whole story... by itself.
