I assumed he'd be done after this season...too bad he won't be able to call a cup victory in his career.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

They picked a guy for his replacement, and the guy personally said himself, if he is announcing a potential Sabres Stanley Cup finals, he said if RJ is able to announce it he'll step aside and let him.

So he has more than 3 years to call a Stanley Cup, it's just a matter of if the team will get a Stanley cup in x amount of years.

The odds of RJ coming back to do that are slim, I'd think, even if DD stepped aside. Rick would be too much of a classy guy to allow DD to relinquish the role to him just for that.

I don't doubt that if he was given the opportunity, he would. He will have an "honorary" status which I'm sure is meant for that purpose. The sad thing is, he's retiring never having a chance to say that the Buffalo Sabres win the Stanley Cup.

He said it right next to RJ in the interview, and RJ didn't reject the offer, so idk.

That's fair. Who knows. We'll see it when it happens.

Best news of the year for the Sabres.

I hope they can build a team in 2 years so his final called game could be a Stanley Cup winning game.

We can dream though.

No, can't have her calling games. I'd shoot my ear drums out.
