That insults hockey.

Don't get me wrong, I like fighting in the NHL, but this whole incident was a major embarrassment to everyone involved, and to the NHL in particular. It was even on CNN yesterday, and believe me, it wasn't like they were saying 'isn't hockey cool?' or 'aren't hockey players tough?'. It was more like 'what the fuck is wrong with these people?'. And it is PRE-SEASON! That game doesn't even count!

If I were handing out the discipline on this one, I would go as heavy as possible on everyone involved on both sides, and then I would go to the press and emphatically state that the league isn't going to tolerate this kind of shit. This is a PR nightmare for the league.

And Miller is an idiot. What was he thinking? This is his contract year. If he got hurt and missed most of the season, we would be talking about a multi-million dollar mistake. Besides he can't fight for shit.

Almost every punch Bernier threw at Miller landed in Miller's armpit. Looked like Miller had the reach and was able to keep the separation there.

Worse shit has happened in hockey. If people would rather follow the National Felon League, or the steroid filled MLB, because of hockey being too... Whatever, then they aren't smart enough to appreciate hockey, anyways. The only one I see at fault here is Kessel. Scott was chirped at and tangled with, yet the fight invitation was declined with a stick being wielded like an axe.

It definitely is. John Scott wasn't directed to fight, nor did John Scott actually do something wrong.

Plain ol' league bias. Kaleta can get savagely jumped and punched by Orr, but when Scott goes after Kessel who actually DID something, it's a fine to the team AND the coach, and possibly a suspension for Scott?

Evidently the NHL is too goddamn stupid to see that this situation required the book to be thrown at everyone involved. To add to the stupidity, Kessel gets nothing!? INTENT TO INJURE (twice, and that’s NOT including the spear) and he gets no regular season suspension? Rolston gets fined and he didn’t even have the last change!?

I hate to say it, but the league has given us no choice. I think when November 15 rolls around, we need to go total goon. If the NHL can’t apply justice, then we need to do it ourselves.

Umm, I sympathize with the sentiment but it wouldn't go well for us. The League would fine & suspend the crap out of Buffalo. They'd go into the game with the penalties already fixed in their minds.

Kaleta gets fined just for breathing. Let's bring back Avery and piss everybody off with an Ott/Kaleta/Avery line.

lol jk please don't

If Shannahan suspends Scott for nothing, he is worse than Colin Campbell.

Not even; Toronto had the last change. That means that they didn't HAVE to put Kessel out there with old Johnny boy...

This picture is fake. They're all Stanley Cup Finals refs. They're not calling anything on the Sabres because they won't be playing.

Roll an Otter, Avery, kaleta line for one game. Toss Scott out whenever possible.

Scott's going to be a busy boy when we play the Leafs.
What do you think the league will do? Warn both teams beforehand then blame the Sabres when the fight(s) inevitably break out??
