Sky, I hate to say it, but the fact that you have had to defend Myers about 5 times a day since this season started should be a clue that Myers has actually sucked, and sucked consistently.

It's more about actually watching them play. There are times when he has been bad. BUT TO blame him as the sole reason is false.

I actually watch more how they play when those goals are scored and don't only see they were on the ice. The team can't score so it doesn't matter how the d plays if the game is close and the offense sucks.

And Myers hasn't been that bad. Only one or two goals I can directly blame on him this year. Even with his terrible plus\minus.

I don't think there is a single person here who is blaming Myers for all our woes, not by a long shot. But he damn sure hasn't helped. Just for the record I personally think every guy on this team, except the goalies and Girgensons, have been a disappointment.

You need to add in Vanek and Hodsgon in that equation. The Chicago game Hodsgon was our best player and vanek has the second most points right behind hodgson. I will also add in Ehrhoff too, he just does him job silently.

Fair enough. It's just that nobody has been able to do anything to get us a win yet, and we're 7 games in.

Yea it really sucks. Great goaltending to keep us in games and everything. :(

I don't think anybody blames Myers as the sole reason as to why this team sucks, I just think we're getting pretty ticked that he's been here as long as he has, gotten as much hype as he has, and just hasn't done anything to make those hopes a reality. He's a marginal player being payed great money. He's not garbage, but he's not good. We expect a lot more out of him than what he's giving.

actually, i thought myers was fine tonight. he played simple hockey, and as a result, he looked good in his own end.

grigs looked ok at times too.

Myers was solid. I think Nolan finally told him, that with his size, he can play a much more physical game. He was grinding the corners. The defense was stout as shit. Everyone played well. For Zemgus' first game at center he did very well.

Ted has said several times that everyone gets a clean slate. It might behoove us here to do the same. I'm not sure that we could have a more different coach from Rolston! There's an article at Buffalo Hockey Beat that I'm going to quote here:

Leino, who had just one assist in nine games entering Saturday, believes Nolan’s straightforward approach allows the Sabres to play instinctively.

“He’s a hockey guy. You play hockey,” Leino said. “There’s no video. There’s no X and O’s everywhere and all this stuff that’s not really that much related to hockey. It’s just pure hockey, playing, making plays. It’s hockey. That’s hockey. That’s how I can describe it the best.

“It’s an old-school hockey coach and old-school coaching. I think everybody will like him. He’s honest.”

Leino added: “You’ll still have your systems and your places, but it’s not going to be like Ron that you have to do this and you have to focus on going here. That makes you slow. You have to work on your instincts. Everybody’s been playing hockey for all their lives.”

I can agree with this. Ted is letting the Sabres rely on their instincts, again. Then he will put them in a position to prosper. Let's see how it goes.

lol we need a forward. We need one or two forwards that can score points and handle the puck in the other zone. Our defensive play has been astounding under Nolan, which is why we haven't been getting blown out these past two games, but we still need more offensive pressure which cannot be present with this group of forwards.

I wanna see what Armia can do.

You know what pisses me off about Myers? He doesn't skate with the puck like he did in his rookie year. When Myers gets going, he has tremendous momentum and a long reach. He went on a rush at least once a game which resulted in plenty of odd man rushes or simply gaining the zone with control. Not sure why he's been bitching out ever since year 1, but I see no reason why he decided to stop.

That, in part, may be Ron Rolston's fault. He told Myers he didn't want him doing that anymore.

Very false, Rolston wanted him to do that. Especially during this preseason, which he did.

Ruff wanted to take that from him his second year, which I think really hurt him.

I can remember an exact quote of Ron Rolston or Tyler Myers last year saying he didn't care if Myers scored another point for the rest of the year, as long as he worked on his defense.
