now hold on to your tits here.

the alleged discussions revolve around yakupov coming to buffalo for miller/vanek. one of those, or both (though miller has edmonton on his not trad-able list.)

it was in TBN today, also on sportsnet canada. or something. anyone else hearing this?

Puck Daddy did a little spiel on it earlier today. Kypreos also said that the Oilers is on Millers no trade list. It's not like I believe anything Kypreos says so who knows. I'm sure neither of them wants to go to the Oilers, there a train wreck too. Just with several top draft picks.....

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Not Vanek's choice.

EDM needs D-men so I wonder if we can insert Myers into the mix, also.

Even TSN has said that Edmonton has contacted teams about every available goaltender, Miller included. I think this is mainly about Miller.

Question is, if you are Edmonton, who do you give up for a player you're not guaranteed to have longterm. Would they be willing to trade any of their locked-up forwards (Eberle, Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Gagner) for a potential rental? I wouldn't. And if I'm Buffalo, I won't take Hemsky and I need either one of those I mentioned earlier or I need Yakapov in return. Throwing Vanek in might make the deal more worthwhile if you're Edmonton, but you face the same prospect of having to resign him and maybe trade a guy with a longterm deal to get him.

edit: forgot to mention that Miller has a modified NTC which could factor in. He can pick up to 8 teams he would NOT accept a trade to.

As a Sabres fan, I'd be OK with both Miller and Vanek going out only if Buffalo gets Eberle or Hall in return. I know Nugent-Hopkins might be a consideration but I'm not sold on him.

Totally missed that in your first post. Not sure I'd be so against it if I were Miller. They gotta get good soon...right....right? Maybe not but on paper the Oil look a lot better than many teams for the long haul.

Kypreos also started a rumor that the Sabres were preparing to fire Regier, then walked it back a few hours later when he got called out on it.

He's a hack.
