I like it.

And I sincerely wish Vanek the best.

Good for him. Goes to a playoff team and, gets Tavares as a center.

I'm going to miss Vanek. He was the only Sabre who could score :(

Miller gone next?

Vanek deserves a top line center and to be on a contending team. He is a good dude for keeping his mouth shut about this team and for trying his hardest. I hope he wins a Stanley Cup

Well, damn. :(
I am beginning to feel like I need to quit following the Sabres & pick back up in a year or two. I hate this kind of turmoil. I don't even know who's on the team any more.

And while I'm whining, I wish they had kept Gerbe. :( :(

So sad right now. I'm happy that he's going to play with a better team and a guy like Tavares, but damn...I guess it's the official end of an era. Miller is the only guy left I suppose. Sad day to be a Sabres fan. :(

We are getting all these picks so if we don't end up drafting first overall, we use them as trade bait to get the first overall this year, and again next year.

Wow, I'm shocked. I didn't expect him being traded to the Islanders. I hoped for Vanek to get traded to a better team but he might not even sign there.

Miller's gone for sure now.

Moulson, a first and a second. Seems like a good deal for the Sabres. Can somebody tell me who won this trade? I don't know anything about Moulson.

EDIT: Did a bit of reading. Most people think Moulson was so good because of Tavares. Buffalo will still get a good return for him at the deadline. If they sign him chances are it's gonna be a Leino situation, overpaid because of inflated numbers due to great line mates.

We basically traded Vanek for the two picks we got from the islanders and whatever we get for Moulson at the deadline. So Vanner for like 4 total picks at the very least. Not bad at all. Miller is def gone. I wish the best for both of them. Sad they could not bring one home as Sabres. They seemed to genuinely enjoy this organization.

Moulson had similar numbers to Vanek since Tavares came about.

Matt Moulson isn't a bad player. He's no Vanek, but he'll score points with or without Tavares. Not at his current pace, though.

Moulson sounds like a Boyes type guy. He can pump some points when he has the right guy dishing him the puck and setting up plays. That guy may be on the roster but he isn't going to do it this year. Ride this Moulson pony to the deadline and blame his lackluster numbers on the shit product he has to play with and see what we can get in return. He isn't going to resign so get what we can. Same goes with Otter, Tallinder(is he a one year deal), and Miller. See if we can move stafford and field offers for Myers. Sign some vets this offseason and get this farm system a shot of draft steroids

I see him as a 30-40 points guy without Tavares.

I think there's no doubt Moulson's stats were inflated from playing with Tavares. No way they wouldn't be. He's maybe in the top 10 players in the world and he's a pass-first guy. Vanek producing 30 or 40 goals playing with Derek Roy or Cody Hodgson, that's a lot more impressive feat. I expect to see Vanek's production explode and maybe that makes him want to sign longterm in Brooklyn.

On paper Buffalo got the better of this trade. What I don't like is:
A. They traded my favorite Sabre, a class act and hard-worker who was their current best skater
B. They got nothing guaranteed to help them in the future in return. They got a crapshoot in the form of a player who may not be anywhere near as good as he appears in return, plus two TBD players who will potentially be late first or second round picks if the Islanders do well that will possibly take years to develop. I would have liked to see Buffalo pick up a young NHL-ready prospect from a loaded team looking to make a Cup run. A layer you know can contribute and who is under contract as a RFA.

But when you get down to it, I guess I can't fault Darcy too much for making this deal. I'm just sad to see one of the last pieces of my favorite Sabres teams go.

Glad for Thomas, I'd be so incredibly psyched to be leaving this situation and getting to play with one of the best 5 or 6 centers in hockey.
