Apparently Randy Cunneyworth has been hired by Buffalo's scouting department.
What are the chances that he's a Sabres coach-in-waiting?

What do you think of him as our next coach- keeping in mind that this is only supported by my imagination. ;)

Who the fuck knows at this point. Darcy is going in so many directions its hard to keep track. I hate the fact that you hire someone to coach your NHL team just to develop young players. I'm still confused, isn't that what the fucking AHL is for?

As of right now Darcy said RR is safe and that Cunneyworth will be in charge of "special assignments" and to work with Kaleta.

I'm so lost on what this team has been doing for the last year, I can't even post on here. Really, I have nothing when it comes to this team.

All I know is Darcy HAS to go. Has to. And Rolston is not an NHL coach. We HAVE good players. Good enough to at least win sometimes or be competitive. Why we're not can only mean the coach is in over his head.

Right now, I think I'd rather have Cunneyworth

Our forwards are absolutely awful. We have second line players as our solidified first liners...

I really don't understand why everybody is so pissed off, especially when we know what direction the team is going in. Maybe I shouldn't be considered a true fan for saying this, but I want our team to tank. I'd rather that than fight for 10th spot in the East. If we're going to blow this shit up and build a cup contender, we need the pieces to do it. 1, 2 or 3rd overall picks would be what we need for building that cup contending team. Who wouldn't love to draft Ekblad or Reinhart this year and possibly McDavid (the next one) in 2015? If we want to be where the Blackhawks, Avalanche, Kings or Leafs are now then we'll need to go through some suffering.

I feel as if someone makes this comment every week and every time it goes unread. People act like Darcy's unintentionally sucking. What would you guys rather have, a mediocre team for a bunch of years, or a shitty team for two or three turning into a good one?

I think that intentionally sucking is bad for morale, not to mention teaches the youngsters bad habits.

That's why I don't like the sports system in north america. There's no punishment for sucking. You stay in the league as long as you have an owner with money. Itwould be more interesting if they would have to fight for staying in the league. I can't imagine what it has to feel like, buying expensive season tickets and none of the games matter anything. It's like buying season tickets for exhibition games.

Have a demotion system, the best AHL team gets to be put into the NHL while the 30th gets dropped.

But it would dilute talent throughout and have two competing leagues in NA.

If US sports followed the relegation system used in European soccer, the Chicago Cubs would be playing in a recreation league for blind girls playing with a beeping softball – and losing!

Here are my reasons to be pissed. This is a professional hockey team but they play worse than an average AHL team right now. Right now, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Fuck Black when he says that. Fuck Black when he says WE, as fans, signed up for this. Fuck him!!!!
I have some concern that it's doing more harm than good having the rookies be in this situation. When you do your best and you lose over and over and over again, that eats away at your confidence. If this continues then none of these rookies will be worth a shit since they will feel like they are worthless. Second, I don't care what anyone says, I DO NOT HAVE FAITH THAT DARCY CAN DO THIS!!! Not with the next ten #1 picks! He has made absolutely horrible personnel decisions repeatedly. I'll give him a nod with drafting, he's ok with that. The problem is not drafts, it's picking the correct veterans to get or to keep. I am predicting that this "rebuild" will be a colossal failure at a historic level. If it works, then good for Darcy. He's proven to all of us that he needed only TWENTY YEARS to finally build a great team.

I know it's early in this rebuild but if anyone believes that this will only take a couple years, they're horribly nieve. This will be, at least, a 5-7 year project. Right now it's, get every worth a damn veteran off this team as quickly as possible. Then draft high and damn near perfect. Then you have to convince good veterans that you're on the right track and the Sabres are the new up and coming... Right now, the Sabres will be on every players NTC list for years to come. Trust me. Peghead can beg and throw money at whoever he wants but no one will touch this team with a ten foot pole.

As for Cunneyworth in the wings. Yeah, thats par for the course for Darcy. Hire a guy who has little or no experience coach in the NHL.

 I've never watched a full baseball game in my life, but even I know about the Cubs misery.

You do know the number one team right now has a coach that has never coached an NHL team before...

But he's a former player, so that automatically qualifies him as being a better coach!

In all seriousness, when you think about it, every team employs a coach that at one point, never coached in the NHL before. Every guy get's their start somewhere.

SHHHHHHHH, don't tell sabresindc that. :p

Do I think Rolston is the coach to win us a Stanley Cup? No, I do not.

And hiring a guy who worked very well with younger players as a scout shouldn't be a bad thing at all.

Ok, maybe I'm hounding on the coaching experience thing a little too much. I do think that Cunnyworth would be a better coach than Rolston. I was just fired up, letting my emotions get to me a bit.

Oh and Boudreau was handed a team that any one of us would probably be able to coach.... Anaheim GM (Burke and Murray) was able to build a great team with many star players.

Fuck Bruce Boudreau! He's an imbecile and he got fired in Washington for a ton of good reasons.
Although, to his credit, he was in the original "Slap Shot" (seriously).

Sky was talking about Patrick Roy, and honestly, if we're judging coaches on what they've done since the season began, Patrick Roy is totally #1.

I was going on what the standings show today. Boudreau was fired for many reason but the biggest one was that Ovie hated him. By far Roy is the best coach so far! Could you imagine if Darcy actually did his fucking job and interviews/hired Roy. This is another fuck up by dear old Darcy, not his due diligence

Again, something 29 other teams didn't do is Darcy's fault...
