The open ridicule from players concerning being a healthy scratch, without being given a reason, to the media I think was the straw that broke the camels back. I honestly felt like crap for how this was being handled. Players voiced their concern and it wasn't addressed. The fans chanting fire Darcy during nationally televised games and trending in Twitter was Darcy's out. Don't pull the bandaid slow. Yank that somma bitch and start anew. I honestly felt shame.

I'm excited to see where this leads. Hope Patty is right that he knows the right people to bring in to be GM.

So now here's Pat LaFontaine. He's the President of Hockey Operations, and he'll hire his own GM, who will eventually hire his own coach, be that it may be Ted Nolan or someone else.

Whether it's Nolan, who IS a great coach with younger players, or someone else, let it be someone proven and good, not some AHL retread

He was about to be lynched by an entire fandom of mutinous people. He had no choice. Plus I think the Fire Darcy Regier page on FB hit like 7000 likes so he had to do something.

This is a huge marketing ploy. LaFantaine is up there with Gil Perreault as most loved player ever and Nolan left with so much controversey and so many people wanted him back. It's like a story book tale come true.

I think Patty can do a good job. I do. I think he'll have a hard time bringing in top talent as GM, but ultimately we'll settle for Dineen or he'll convince someone like Hextall to come here. Some assistant GM with a name people recognize.

Anything can happen with Nolan. The guy is just good with young players and we have a whole crop of young players here. Nolan is a motivator and Patty KNOWS that Nolan likes to be left to coach his way without interference form the front office. He HAD to have had that conversation with him.

Good PR move for sure. Good personnel move, we'll see

So Don Cherry really likes Ted Nolan, in fact, maybe a little TOO much.

Grapes is not getting any younger.
